The game was then expanded, renamed to Andromeda Awakening - The Final Cut and converted for Glulx interpreters in 2012.
Andromeda Awakening was the first of the Andromeda series. It lead to the Andromeda Legacy Competition, which had two entries: Andromeda Dreaming by Joey Jones and Tree and Star by Paul Lee.
This was followed by the author's own Andromeda Apocalypse, which was entered in the 18th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition and placed 1st out of 28 entries. This was release 1 dated 30 September 2012 and included one of the characters introduced by Joey Jones.
An extended edition was released as Andromeda Apocalypse - Extended Edition with 9 new achievements, extended map and an alternate ending. This was release 2 dated 4 October 2012.
A 2nd annual Andromeda Legacy competition was held in 2013 and this was won by Truthcraze with Andromeda Ascending. This was release 1 dated 1 July 2013.
In 2015, Marco Innocenti remade the original game in the style of 1980s text adventures as Andromeda 1983. Part of the game overlapped the original one, but is otherwise a brand new game.
