Synopsis

You are Princess Bronwynn of Alizon, also Duchess of Charlton, the wife of Duke Alaric Blackmoon, captain of King Kelson's personal guard.

You are laying in your bed, trying to get to sleep, with your son Finn's dog Paddy snoring at the foot - your husband Alaric is away on a mission for King Kelson and Paddy likes to "protect you" while he is away.

You are worried about your 11 year old son, Finngor, who has been having nightmares lately. He dreams that he wakes in the night to see a mysterious figure standing at the foot of his bed. The figure is dressed in black but has a very pale, almost white, face. The figure opens its mouth to reveal long canine teeth and then it vanishes.

The court sorcerer and physician, Magor, has told you that such nightmares are common in pre-adolescent children and that you are not to worry, but Finngor is convinced the apparition is real and he is not dreaming.

You are just drifting off to sleep when you are suddenly woken by a loud bump followed by a shout from your son Finn.

"MOM!!"

You are instantly alert and so is Paddy, whose hackles stand up on his back and he growls menacingly, jumping off the bed to stand at the door.

You leap out of bed and dash to your door...
