Excalibur: Sword of Kings (Excalibur.txt)
Excalibur (Alternative Software) -------------------------------- Excalibur was always one of the more `simple' Spectrum adventures, and was often reccomended by magazines as a good game to try if you were `new to adventures'. When I first got the game at the age of fourteen or whatever, I finished it in about an hour and a half. Playing it for the second time on the emulator it took me about three weeks to complete. Make of that what you will.............. Here's the solution. From the start GET LADDER, and go N,N,E,E,N and PROP LADDER against the stone tree. Now go UP and GET SWORD, then D,GET LADDER and go S,S,S. Now BREAK LADDER in order to give yourself a balance pole to cross the chasm and DROP RUNGS as you no longer need them. CROSS CHASM,S,GET LOGS,EXAM LOGS, you find an axe !, GET AXE, DROP LOGS. Then go W and EXAM BUSH, you find a Key !, GET KEY,E,N,CROSS CHASM,N,E and ATTACK KNIGHT. You'll defeat him with the help of the sword that you picked up earlier, now go, E,E and UNLOCK DOOR then OPEN DOOR and go E,E,S,E and GET COIN. Now retrace your steps back to the old lamp selling woman by heading W,N,W,W,W,W and BUY LAMP. Head back to the castle by going E,E,E,E,E,S and then use the axe to SMASH TRAPDOOR. Now go D,S,LIGHT LAMP to get rid of the rockworm, S, and GET SALT. Then head N,N,U,E,E and THROW SALT to melt the ice monster. Now go N,E and GET EXCALIBUR, then W,S and GET OIL, go N again OIL WINCH then TURN WINCH, and go S,W,W,N,N. The portcullis has now opened so you can go N where `Crania' will throw a spell at you, use excalibur to REFLECT SPELL and kill Crania, now go W and WAKE ARTHUR to complete the game.
