Trek Adventure (Enterprise_Escape.txt)

Enterprise Escape

For Sega SC-3000

Solution by Garry Francis
----------------------------------------
This is a minimal solution to a badly implemented game. Very few commands give you a meaningful
response. If the command is understood, you generally get no response. That's a good sign. It
means something has happened. You then have to LOOK to see what happened. The only trouble is that
it doesn't understand LOOK. Instead, you have to LOOK SOMETHING, where SOMETHING is an object
that you know to be in the room that doesn't ordinarily give a response. It will then list all
the objects in the room so that you can see what has changed.

You have 4.1 hours to complete the game. That's 4 hours 1 minute, not decimal hours. Each move
takes one minute. The game is littered with viewscreens, ventilators and computer terminals. The
computer terminals will give you the remaining time.

The game is also littered with doors. There are three types of doors, jammed doors, doors that
require authorised access and one that has a depressurised atmosphere beyond. The jammed doors can
be blasted open with a phaser. The authorised access doors require you to present (or drop) an ID
badge. Don't forget to pick it up again! The final door requires wearing a spacesuit. There are
two spacesuits. The first only has enough oxygen for about ten moves. The second has an unlimited
supply of oxygen. You must drop everything in order to wear a spacesuit. Once worn, you can pick
things up again. It seems to get really confused over the spacesuits. When you're wearing the
first spacesuit, you have to get the second spacesuit, drop it somewhere, move away, remove and drop
the first spacesuit, then move back to get and wear the second spacesuit. Got that? I really
struggled to work this out.

Only the first two letters of each verb and each noun are significant. This can lead to some strange
outcomes. For example, I tried to DRINK BRANDY and this caused me to DROP it.
