THE LAND BEYOND TIME

Spectrum 128

This is an intriguing, challenging game, which contain more than enough
mazes to satisfy those who like mazes and frustrate those who don't.
There are many, many places to explore and many one-way exits. You are
somewhat hampered by being able to carry only a limited number of
objects, but all are necessary at some time, needing to be used only
once. Both parts contains chance elements.

There are some playing differences and inconsistencies between Part 1
and Part 2. In Part 1 you can use phrases, such as PUT HANDKERCHIEF OVER
MOUTH, or shorten it to HAND MOUTH. In Part 2, only two words are
allowed. To give something to someone, type <PERSON> <OBJECT> or
<OBEJCT> <OBEJCT> only. You can use R for REDESCRIBE in Part 1, but in
Part 2 use L for LOOK. In Part 1, you can use WEST instead of W, but
must use the short form in Part 2.

Hints
Part 1:
To get on and off the raft, use CLIMB ABOARD and CLIMB ASHORE.

Remember to use the uppercase letters for objects, not the noun.

You can't dismantle the raft once it's built. Don't worry, you will need
a rope, but will find another one.

There are many ways to die. You are bitten by mosquitoes early on. The
ground shakes and you fall. The brigands may capture you and kill you.
If you don't find water you'll die of thirst. If you have no light in
the cavern, an anaconda gets you. The guard may kill you eventually. If
you die before you're finished the game, go back to a saved game and try
again, since these are all chance events. However, you can also gain
extra time, by performing other actions.

If GO doesn't work, try ENTER, and vice versa.

Your time will soon run out when you hear noise when you type.

If you meet a figure early in the game, and you are not wearing the
amulet, he takes some of your possessions, and you can retrieve them
where you found the match.

There is also a cheat you can use to gain more time, but I'll not tell
you that.

Hints:
Part 2:

Revisit locations after you perform a notable action; you will find new
exits.

In addition to dying at the hands of the well-known mythological
figures, one of the ways you encountered in Part 1 can also occur here
if you run out of time - the ground can swallow you up.

Some people can be asked for help and will.
