----------------------------------------
This is supposed to be an "experiential" adventure, which is an arty-farty way of saying
that you are meant to experiment using all five of your senses, i.e. sight, sound, smell, taste and
touch.
In many cases, you need to do something before an object appears or a description is expanded. These
are rarely obvious, so you need to experiment to determine exactly which action caused something to
appear.
The goal is to complete 12 activities. You get 1 point for each activity. In some cases, there are
several different activities that can be completed to be awarded the same point. Therefore, there
are many different combinations of activities that can be used to complete the game. However, some
activities are "better" than others and some prevent you from getting the bonus point at
the end.
The activities (in no particular order) are:
A: listen or smell before cassette prompts you
AND
listen or smell after cassette prompts you
B: climb to top of slope
C: get board
D: take board to bottom of slope
E: put board across creek
F: cross to other side of creek
G: swing on rope
H: throw large rock into creek
OR
throw large rock at shed
OR
throw large rock at elm tree
I: skim small rock across creek
OR
throw small rock at shed
OR
throw small rock at elm tree
J: break jars with large rock
OR
break egg
OR
put egg in nest
K: pick scab on knee
OR
scratch itch on hand
L: eat mud
OR
rub shed and get splinter in hand
OR
hit board and get lump on hand
OR
hug elm
The game does not necessarily end when you complete the 12 activities. It only ends in the following
circumstances:
A: you persist in trying to cross the sunken board
B: you jump off the swing when the board is sunken
C: you jump off the swing into the water
D: you hug the elm tree when the egg is in the nest
E: the timer expires and the phone rings
Therefore, your task is to complete all 12 activities in such a way that the game ends. You then get
a post mortem. If you've done everything correctly and there's one thing that you
HAVEN'T done, you get a bonus point.
So, here is a minimal solution that completes all 12 activities, ends the game, gets the bonus point
and does everything in a non-destructive way so that Gaia (the primal Greek goddess of the Earth) is
happy. Scores and comments are shown in brackets.
SMELL (necessary to kill time and get credit when you smell later)
W (you don't go anywhere, but large rock appears)
GET LARGE ROCK (voice says "add sound to your experience")
THROW IT IN CREEK (1)
U (you don't go anywhere, but small rock appears)
U (you're halfway up slope)
U (1) (made it, voice says "add scents as well")
IN (your eyes haven't adjusted to dark yet)
SMELL (1) (you can now see in dark)
L (shelves and jars appear)
X JARS (see cause of smell)
L (board appears)
GET BOARD (1)
OUT
D (1) (you drop board)
GET BOARD
PUT IT ACROSS CREEK (1) (you can now cross creek)
GET SMALL ROCK
SKIM IT ACROSS CREEK (1) (your hand should be itching by now)
SCRATCH HAND (1) (this eases itch from poison ivy)
W (1)
GET EGG
U (1) (you're now swinging on rope)
Z (rope swings back to tree trunk)
PUT EGG IN NEST (1)
D (you're back on solid ground)
HUG ELM (1) (get bonus point for not taking wild flowers)
***THE END***
