GIZE by Bo Leuf Xcellent Software Spectrum 48 This is a very challenging game, not only because of the many location, but because of random elements. Every once in a while you will see a boy. Talk to him several times, Eventually you will hear digadoo, and when you LOOK, you will see a shovel. TAKE SHOVEL. Sometimes talking to him again, you find that he is missing his camel. This is a red herring and can be ignored. Don't kill it. Hints: DRINK WATER whenever you get the message that you must have water. EAT FOOD when you get the message "you nit!". Ark, pyramid, and arch are all synonymous. Same with examine/search, open/unlock. LIFT the slab. The book is necessary to read text and inscriptions. It's also necessary to activate the crystal, HIT CRYSTAL, to ask ABOUT objects and words you come across, as well as certain gods. You can wear the basket. Randomly it becomes dark and you are back at the oasis. When you are asked why you have summoned someone, say POWER (of the) GEM. Once you have met an entity, try CALL <entity>. Calling and petting the cat can prevent some objects from randomly disappearing. SAVE often, as sometimes objects randomly disappear. It is important to put the book in the chest before you perform certain actions. Type U for up and D for down, or CLIMB UP/DOWN. You need to find a gold key in order to find the pouch in order to carry some items. When you see the gold statue, do not pick it up. Simply put it in the basket. You can follow the instructions to put things into containers, or simply say <object> <container>. This works for most objects except the book and staff and the dagger. When you say BOOK CHEST or STAFF CHEST or DAGGER CHEST, all fall to the ground. If you DROP BOOK, it turns into dust. If you say DROP STAFF, it disappears. You can DROP DAGGER. For some reason, you cannot put the dagger in the chest when you are holding it, though this works for the other objects. If both the book and the chest are on the ground, take the book first. You can enter the main pyramid from the north face only. USE STAFF to find a secret entrance. The locations below are not that tricky to navigate but getting what you need there and getting out are very difficult. You need to have (or be wearing) a light source, the basket, the rope, the pouch, the scarab, the robe, the amulet, and the crystal. Once you have the moon pendant, don't wear it until you get another object first. The wearing the moon pendant and the sun disc, you can access other locations. You need the rope more than once, so don't drop it. Of the many songs you can sing, only rah, eym, rhu, soh, and mei are needed. There are many dead ends below the pyramid. You may have found a kind of map when you read Khefren's inscriptions though it is difficult to decipher. When you reach the sun disc, FOCUS. When it asks you for a destination, say FOCUS RUIN. Sometimes just saying FOCUS gets you out. You need to go back there again. You can gain more points (but not actually further ahead in the game), if you enter the coffer and FOCUS ANKH. This allows you to continue playing if you say YES. You do not need to go back to this location to finish the game. FOCUS is used at the end as well. Always keep the matches, lamp, water and food with you. When you drink water at the oasis, you are actually drinking it from the flask, so you need to find another water source to fill the flask. Places you can summon/call the gods are the Temple of Horus, Khefren's Valley Temple, and the Necropolis temple (twice), in that order. Save these actions until the end. Then return to the secret entrance, use the staff, and focus on Maat. DIG where you see a dot by a pyramid. The keys container (the pouch): This can hold the ankh, the meonia gem, the singing crystal, the sun disc, the moon pendant, the scarab, the gold key, and the amulet. The tools container (the chest): This can hold the rope, the pouch, the bottle, the map, the dagger, the staff, and the book (see above). The treasures container (the basket): the ship, the necklace, the mask, the diamond, and the gold statue. However, once objects are put into the basket, they cannot be retrieved.
