EXAMINE PURSE (empty so you discard it), E, GIVE COMB (You are told to
find the Graeae who live beyond the crags. Ask them for the Gifts of
Nysa. The quickness of the hand deceives the eye. Hermes leaves you a
sword). TAKE SWORD, NW, N, DATA GRAEAE (one tooth and one eye passed
between them), EXAMINE ALTAR, GIVE OLIVES . You are told the Gorgon
sisters are in the south across the water beyond the coast of
Tartessus. She gives you her shield).
Go S, E, N, N, E, EXAMINE SLAB. You see gold beneath it. PRAY HERMES (a
centaur bounds onto the slab and you take the gold coin), W, W, W,
EXAMINE TREE, CLIMB TREE, EXAMINE VIEW (you need to go west to a sandy
beach), DOWN, E, E, S, EXAMINE CLEARING, EXAMINE STACKS, EXAMINE BODY,
SEARCH BODY, TAKE AXE, S, W, SW, EXAMINE FISHERMAN, DOWN (he wants a
gold coin), GIVE GOLD TO FISHERMAN, WEST, N. You are at the sandy
shore.
Go N, E, E, N, EXAMIINE GRAEAE, LISTEN, SAY GIFTS OF NYSA. They refuse
your request and pass the eye. TAKE EYE. You are told to return the eye
and they'll give you something in return. SAY GIFTS OF NYSA. They tell
you to seek out three nymphs in Arcadia and beyond and enlist their
help. You find yourself on the rocky path. Go NW, DOWN, E, NW, N,
EXAMINE TREE, CUT TREE, EXAMINE NYMPH (Willow), GIVE AXE TO WILLOW,
DATA HADES (invisibility), S, E, EXAMINE CHIMERA, N, N, EXAMINE POOL,
LOOK IN POOL (you see a nymph who tells you that death comes from the
cascade), EXAMINE NYMPH (Iris), EXAMINE CASCADE (you see dark shadows),
DATA HARPIES, THROW SWORD AT CASCADE. You kill a bird. Iris retrieves
your sword and sandals. EXAMINE SANDALS, WEAR SANDALS.
Go S, W, SE, S, E, SW, FLY S. You are at the island. EXAMINE ROCKS,
LOOK BEHIND ROCKS, EXAMINE NYMPH (Spray), DATA NEREID, DATA NEREUS, SAY
YES, INVENTORY (you now have a pouch), EXAMINE POUCH, WEAR POUCH, FLY
N, NE, SE, E, WEAR HELMET, RUB HELMET, E, N, TAKE EYE, W, PUT EYE IN
POUCH, W, NW, SW, FLY S, TAKE EYE FROM POUCH, GIVE EYE. Spray tells
you that your way is southwest.
FLY SW (you are in a cell), DATA CICONE (They are cannibals. You awake
in a cell.) EXAMINE CELL, EXAMINE STRAW, SEARCH STRAW, TAKE BONE,
EXAMINE BONE, EXAMINE WALL, EXAMINE DOOR, CLIMB WALL, CLIMB WALL,
EXAMINE ROOF, DIG ROOF, EXAMINE SENTRY, EXAMINE BUSHES, HIDE IN BUSHES,
WAIT, WAIT (the sentry rushes off), S, EXAMINE GOODS, TAKE ALL, WEAR
HELMET, TAKE POUCH, WEAR POUCH, TAKE SANDALS, WEAR SANDALS, RUB
HELMET, N, FLY N. You find yourself on a mountain ledge.
Go DOWN, E, EXAMINE ALTAR (you see an owl carving), W, N, N, S, EXAMINE
OWL, PRAY ATHENE. She appears and says to only look upon the reflection
in the shield. When you see Medusa, strike true. Go W, LOOK AT
REFLECTION. You strike Medusa's head and it rolls at your feet. Athene
returns your shield and disappears. PUT HEAD IN POUCH, EXAMINE STONES,
E, N, RUB HELMET, FLY NE. You are at a large rock. Go E, E (you see
Andromeda), FREE ANDROMEDA (a monster arises), EXAMINE MONSTER, KILL
MONSTER. Nereus appears. He will free the maiden because of your help
and asks you to strike him. HIT MONSTER. You go on to Part 2.
For those of you who are playing this in a Spectrum version, do the
following:
When you get to the end and the game asks for a filename under which to
save the game, create one, i.e. give it a name. Hit <Enter>. You should
see "Start tape" on the bottom of your screen, press any key. SAVE AS
the name you gave it, in .tap format (scroll down until you see - save
tape image). Open or otherwise run part 2. When the game asks for a
filename, type whatever you saved it under. Do not type in the
extension. Go to the upper toolbar and press <OPEN>. Press the left
shift key. Double-click on the .tap file under which you saved the
game. Press <ENTER>. This should load part 2.
PART 2:
FLY E, N, EXAMINE BOAT, TAKE ALL. The Gorgon sisters take Medusa's head
and the pouch. Go S, LOOK UP, NW, NE, EXAMINE ALTAR, EXAMINE COLUMNS
(you see a bee), PRAY HERMES. You find out that the Gorgons have taken
Medusa's head to Hades, You must follow them there to recover it. First
you must find the river Acheron and summon the Black Barge which will
take you to the Grove of Persephone, where Hermes will be waiting for
you.
DATA HADES, DATA ASHERON, DATA PERSEPHONE, FLY N (to the mountain top),
E, SEARCH LITTER. You see a rod. EXAMINE FORMS, PUSH ROD, TAKE WAND, W
(you hear hooves running off), EXAMINE WAND, READ WORDS (you can't), W,
DATA CENTAUR, EXAMINE CENTAUR (he blocks the path), EXAMINE TAIL (there
is an arrow in it), TAKE ARROW, DOWN, EXAMINE TREES (they can't support
your weight), EXAMINE STREAM, EXAMINE TURF, N, EXAMINE TREE, CLIMB
TREE. You see a satyr chasing a woman. EXAMINE NYMPH (Clea), THROW
ARROW TO CLEA. She shoots the satyr and tells you the message on the
wand is "Black to black and black is here, and fields of asphodel".
Go N, EXAMINE BRAMBLES, CLIMB TREE (you see a building in the thicket),
CLIMB TREE (you see a shelter and a corpse), EXAMINE SHELTER (you see a
ball), EXAMINE BALL, PUT HELMET ON BALL (this allows you to take the
ball), EXAMINE CORPSE, EXAMNE LIPS, TAKE OBOLUS, EXAMINE COIN, REPLACE
COIN, PUSH E, N, EXAMINE ROCK (it's black), CLIMB ROCK (you can't), HIT
ROCK WITH WAND, GIVE BALL TO WOMAN. You find yourself sitting on a
cushion in the barge.
EXAMINE WOMAN, DATA HECATE, SEARCH CUSHION (you get the coin). You find
yourself on the jetty. Go N, N (you can't), FLY N (you can't), S, FLY N
(you are in the grove), E, E, S, S, N (at the Styx), DATA CHARON (he
needs an obolus), GIVE COIN TO CHARON, DATA CEREBUS, N. Hermes says to
find Hades and persuade him to give you Medusa's head to return to
Athene.
Go N, W, W, SE, EXAMINE WELL, KISS MAIDEN, TAKE DISH, EMPTY DISH, NW,
E, E, S, E, FILL DISH, W, N, W, DROP DISH, CLIMB TREE (the dogs are
appeased), N, GIVE HELMET, TAKE POUCH, S, E, E, EXAMINE ARBOUR, LOOK IN
ARBOUR, DATA HYPNOS (the staff brings sleep), WAKE HYPNOS (he rushes
off and you fall asleep), LOOK IN ARBOUR, TAKE STAFF, W, S, S, HIT DOG
WITH STAFF, PRAY HERMES. You are returned to Ethiopia at the shore.
Go UP, N, DATA PHINEUS, TAKE HEAD FROM POUCH (the guard advances on
you), E, N, EXAMINE STATUE (Athene), PRAY ATHENE (she tells you to
raise the shield), RAISE SHIELD, SHOW HEAD, S, W. You are returned to
Seraphs,. Go E, UP, N (Danae meets Andromeda), DATA POLYDECTES, W, N,
TAKE HEAD FROM POUCH, S, E, EXAMINE ALTAR, GIVE POUCH. Your task is
done and you are finished.
