There is a free NewBrain emulator and lots of NewBrain programs on the following website www.newbrainemu.eu
Check this out as there are also lots of Text Adventure games.

Is it easy to use for those with no prior knowledge of the NB? Ie. does it run out of the box with some sort of Autoboot feature?

Well, it seems I got this one, written by Despinidis Chris, already for a long time. It started with v1.3 and Basic only, and I had 2.49 with Basic and CP/M. Found a newer v. 2.54 this week. That was all free to download, now you have to register first before you can download this free emulator.
It is not difficult to use. Start F5 to begin the emulator.
