Hi auraeus,

I'd never come across the "MarkDown" documentation before! Interesting.

Your documentation request is a reasonable one. It's not my strong point, however, it is my intention to investigate ways to improve the layout and readability of the tutorial and userguide.

Hi aureus,

Today I started to improve the TAB QuickStart tutorial (online version)

(Amended link in previous post to above one)

Best regards,

Thank you.
I have made good progress on the French version of the PunyInform 1.7 library which is now in beta version; I will be able to try the tutorial in the coming days. If I have problems under Linux, I would fall back with dismay on a Window 7!

Good tutorial and good software.
A few remarks:
You use the expression "Start Room" in your tutorial whereas it is "Start Location" in your editor.

The entry does not appear in the same order as in the editor:
Description =
Message =
Noun =
instead of :
Description =
Noun =
Message =

Adding a text identifier (ID) associated with a number, for objects and locations, would be more intuitive than a number.
Perhaps the text ID could be the noun.
[GO] 2 or apple

Vocabulary entry, word by word and a bit laborious.
I reported another problem on intfiction.org

Great work.

Thank you auraes,

I have amended the online tutorial in response to your findings.
http://tab.thinbasic.com/QuickTutorial.html

I have also fixed the technical issue you mentioned on the other forum and will post a minor update of the 3 versions of Tab_v68 in the next couple of days or so. (date of new version will be found on the TAB page download links)

Keeping in mind backwards compatibility, I will also think to try on implementing your suggestion for object and location improves. This is something which I really hope to make easier and user friendly.

Thank you as well for your kind comments about the TAB program.

Regards,
catventure/Phil.

It is already good. I'll wait for the corrections, and I'll try it under Windows.
You still have two "Start Room" in your tutorial. I'm ruthless!

Not too ruthless, I hope! ;)

Hi aureas,

I decided to go with your idea suggestion for a 'Find Object' and 'Find Character' button on those editors. Author can quickly type a valid Object or Character noun (or a synonym) into an edit field. Clicking the button allows the author to instantly edit the selected object or character details.

What u think?

Regards,
catventure.

If you assume that I think then you are doomed. And beware of Garry, he is much more terribble than I am!
I need to take the time to read the documentation and test your software a little. The tutorial is good, but we are on track; everything looks straightforward.
Is your forum operational? I'm not sure that here is the right place to talk about all this. I don't know...

Hi Auraes,

Still gotta do a similar improve for the Location Editor.

Yes it still operational - but not many using it just lately. So, yes we could carry on over there if u like.
- and there's a chatbox too. (once you've joined)

Or if its more to your liking, TAB user and IF author Jason Nicholls (Elven Software) and myself started a FB group:

In the first image above, can you left justify the labels adjacent to the check boxes?

I hadn't even thought about it, but intfiction.org seems good for that; let's go there.
