Doem Pyramide
Hi @Alex
I've just noticed this Dutch game on GB64
http://www.gb64.com/game.php?id=29122&d=18&h=0
...and have added it to the site as...
https://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C9 ... amide.html
Looking at the screenshots, it looks to me like it might be a Dutch version of...
https://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C6 ... +Doom.html
...What do you think?
I've not looked for a reference yet, but I'm presuming that the Matthew Seaman game was a type-in somewhere, as the GB64 entry lists Business Press International Ltd./Your Computer as the publisher.

Re: Doem Pyramide Door
I'm guessing it's this one from Your Computer, January 1984

Was there a Dutch equivalent, that might've translated the game?

Re: Doem Pyramide Door
Hi, first of all the Dutch name is "Doem Pyramide" and not "Doem Pyramide Door" or "Pyramide" as on Gamebase64. Wat you read is "Doem Pyramide door Bert Dapperens". This means "Doem Pyramide (Pyramid of Doom) by Bert Dapperens". Note that Pyramid has been spelled wrong in Dutch. This should be Piramide.
Enough of Dutch language lessons . Yes this seems to be the same game looking at the screenshots. Interesting the Dutch game claims to be written in 1983.

Yes that's the game. I compared it with the English code. Note line 2020 in the magazine has an error "Advive" should be "Advice"Strident wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:11 pmI'm guessing it's this one from Your Computer, January 1984

Re: Doem Pyramide Door
Courbois Software were two Dutch brothers Hans and Jos Courbois who published compilations on tape of several c64 and Pet games written by others (I don't know if all were legal but a lot of them weren't commercial games). The company existed from 1983 till 2012 (although later on the focus of the company was different). It seems Gamebase64 has digitalised some of these tapes. That's probably why these Dutch games are becoming available.

Example of one of the Courbois tapes. Nothing fancy.
Re: Doem Pyramide Door
Just looked at the Dutch code. The REM statement in line 3 states that it was translated into Dutch by Dapperens on 10-1-1984. In line 50000, the one on the screen, the date is 10-1-1983. I think this is a typo. It was probably translated after it was published in the magazine by a hobbyist.
Re: Doem Pyramide Door
Yeah, judging by the range and varying origins of the Courbois games, I guessed that not all of them could be classed as "official" releases... In general, across the board, there seems to have been a lot of C64 games that managed to end up being classed as "public domain" when many of them weren't, so I guess they could've been confused as to the status of the games.
Looking at Gamerbase64... if a game is tagged with Courbois or The Guild, then it's got a 50% chance that it's origins are elsewhere.
I'll make some amendments to the two entries. Thanks for looking those over. C64 adventures really aren't my area of interest, normally, but there seems to be a lot that needs sorting out.

Hrmph. Officially, of course, you are correct. I'd still spell it with an y-grec myself, if only because the Grecs did.Note that Pyramid has been spelled wrong in Dutch. This should be Piramide.
Yes, I am contrary, thank you very much.
