King Tut's Tomb (Greg Hassett) Need Help

#1 Post by Marathonman » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:49 pm

Hi There,

I've played King Tut's Tomb (Greg Hassett) on a C64 - Emulator and have 3 questions:

1) How can I burn the mummy?
2) How can I get the 32 bonus points?
3) How can I win (not Quit) the game?

There are no tips in the solution on this site.

Please help,
Marathonman

I'm looking into this. Should be able to give you a reply within a few days!

Here are some hints from Dorothy Millard:

Notes
There are a number of random elements in the game and it may take a number of attempts to complete it.
• MUMMY - When the mummy walks in BURN MUMMY (must be carrying the matches).
• GOOBER - When the Goober enters DROP SNAKE, LOOK (the Goober sees the snake, leaps up and runs away), GET SNAKE.
• TORCH - this goes out regularly, just LIGHT TORCH again.
• SNAKE - After a while the snake will bite you, when it does the wine is the antidote, but if drunk too soon the snake will disappear and the Goober will get you. You have at least 20 moves before you need to drink the wine.

Hi,

thanks for your hints, but

MUMMY - 'Burn Mummy' don't function. He slips on a banana peel or kill me.
GOOBER - I've solved that by myself, but gives no bonus points.
TORCH - I know
SNAKE - See Goober.

In all that helps not by my three problems.

Greetings,

Ok,

I've tried another C64 Version and find out, that the Game 'King Tut's Tomb' (I've played) have errors. The Game 'King Tut's Tomb Adventure' on C64 (PET) is fixed and now I can do 'BURN MUMMY' (that was logical and I wonder why that doesn't go earlier).

But I've only 201 of 207 Points. I've missed 6 Points from the Bonus Points. I think I get Bonus Points for few turns. I've 158 Turns and have found a way with ca. 15 fewer. Could it be faster done or are there points for doing something additional in the Pyramid?

And finally I Quit the Game and don't won it. Is it possible to win the game and not quit the game?

Greetings,
Marathonman

Dorothy made no mention of bonus points, only that you get 175 total. The game she wrote the solution for was written in 1979. Maybe you are playing an updated version?

Hi,

the problem is, I can't find an TRS-80 Version of 'King Tut's Tomb' to see, if there are bonus points, too. But I play the C64 Version, now. Finaly I hope to reach people they are playing old text-adventures on this site, too.

Can anywhere help me by my questions above?

Thanks,
Marathonman

Terri,

I think the same like you. The TRS-80 Version of 'King Tut's Tomb' in 1979 will have only the 175 Points and the C64 Version is an update with the bonus points.

But you know, if you have begin an adventure and you missed only 6 points, you will get them. And I will win not quit the game...

Have anybody played the C64 Version?

Greets,
Marathonman

Dorothy played on the C-64 (many, many games). Her solution is for the C-64. So it must have been updated, or "translated" from the TRS-80.

Hey, funny enough!!

Someone has the same problem as me with this one.
I actually only tried to follow the solution of the three Dutch guys:

http://solutionarchive.com/King_Tuts_Tomb.txt

but I promise that I will eat my hat (with mustard) if they really played the C64 version!! It is almost impossible.

Nothing to see of a snake, and the goober drives you insane in the C64 version if you don't do anything against it!
Where do I find the snake?

Thanks for help.

p.s. is there anyone tech-aware here and could tell me whether the listing of the game could be made accessible?
It would be a good thing to fix the German version, "Pharaonengrab", for the Gamebase project!
It just quits with a ?FORMULA TOO COMPLEX error but it looks anyway as if written in CBM BASIC.
