XRoar for Dragon, CoCo (inc. 3), and MC-10 Emulation

#1 Post by Alastair » Sun Nov 21, 2021 12:26 am

In recent months Ciaran has enhanced XRoar so that it now emulates the Tandy CoCo3 and MC-10 computers alongside the original Dragon and CoCo (1 and 2) emulations.

Version 1.0.1 for various host platforms can be downloaded from http://www.6809.org.uk/xroar/ and more recent 'snapshots' from http://www.6809.org.uk/tmp/xroar/ (xroar-snap-1.0.18 and later are more recent than version 1.0.1). The snapshots usually have binaries for Windows, for other platforms you will need to download xroar-snap-1.0.18.tar.gz (or later) and compile your own binary.

Note that you will also need the requisite computer ROMs for the emulations to work. Dragon ROMs can be found at https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... 20Firmware and https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... 20Firmware. DragonDOS 1.0 ROMs are available at https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... agon%20DOS but Eurohard's DragonDOS 4.x at https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... agon%20DOS, SuperDOS at https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... erDos%20E6, and DOSplus at https://archive.worldofdragon.org/brows ... S3/DOSPlus are huge improvements, with DOSplus perhaps being the best. There are also more recent enhanced DOS ROMs available, they can be found within the Dragon Archive forum - a good place to start being the thread http://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3 ... p?f=5&t=52.

Here are some further links to ROMs, all courtesy of the TRS-80 Color Computer Archive.

First, the MC-10 ROM is at https://colorcomputerarchive.com/repo/MC-10/bios/ download "MC10.BIN" and rename it "mc10.rom" (the case is immaterial) - now you can run all of Jim Gerrie's conversions in XRoar!

Next the archive has an XRoar section containing several Dragon, CoCo, and CoCo clone ROMs suitable for XRoar at https://colorcomputerarchive.com/repo/ROMs/XRoar/.

Finally, for CoCo 3 ROMs see https://colorcomputerarchive.com/repo/ROMs/MAME-MESS/. Download and unzip "coco3.zip" for the NTSC CoCo 3 and "coco3p.zip" for the PAL version.
