Re: Random game link failing

I just discovered another game that is subject to the slash bug. It's XIV/2. I can now see the issue. The game name is listed correctly, but the link to the game includes the slash in the game name and that looks like it's a separator between folders, hence the html page is not found.

Why do you ...

Re: A question for everyone who has recently submitted information to CASA

If I remember correctly, I still get this error from time to time, but it's erratic. The submission still goes through alright, so don't worry about it.

Re: Does 'De Tijdmachine' exist for Spectrum ZX?

I don't remember where I got it, but here's a zip file with the BASIC code as a plain text file.

Re: Does 'De Tijdmachine' exist for Spectrum ZX?

Hmm. I wonder if the Spectrum ZX version was actually a BASICode version, as the source code I've got is different to the BASICode version on the web site, but it has a lot of similarities, such as the comments. Perhaps it's an earlier version or something? I must try it.

Re: Does 'De Tijdmachine' exist for Spectrum ZX?

Thanks for your help Gareth, as always.

I think the remarks in the BASICode version are used to identify the game and provide some info (like modern-day meta data) when you list the game in the JavaScript BASICode interpreter. Even so, this is the BASICode version, not the original Spectrum ZX ...

Does 'De Tijdmachine' exist for Spectrum ZX?

'De Tijdmachine' by Gerton A Lunter (in Dutch) is currently listed as being available for the BBC and the Spectrum ZX. I have the BBC version and BASIC source code for another version, but the other version is clearly not for the Spectrum ZX and I'm not sure what dialect of BASIC it is. Or maybe the ...

Re: The Base

I haven't played it, so can't help. Note that Terri's solution is for the Spectrum version. I did an UnPaws on the Spectrum game and confirmed that Terri's solution to STICK PHOTO ON PASS is correct. On the Amstrad version, perhaps try synonyms for the verb and the preposition, e.g. STICK/GLUE ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

In all fairness, Strident is trying to do the right thing and find physical evidence. It may well be that Dog Planet was Other Venture #5 for the TRS-80 and Saigon was Other Venture #5 for the Atari and Apple II. I bought it and played it on the Atari and we certainly referred to it as Other Venture ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

Wonders never cease. He also lists the Questrobe series in the 50s.

The same web site lists the Jyym Pearson games under 'Other Ventures'. Saigon:The Final Days is unnumbered. Death Planet is not included. Zossed in Space is listed separately, even though it is Other Venture #0 in the Adventure ...

Yes, of course. Just like The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai is adventure #14 and Return to Pirate's Isle is adventure #14.

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

The Atari disk version had graphics. That's how I played it.

In a recent interview with Scott Adams in The Classic Adventurer issue 5, the interviewer said "A total of five games were released via "Other Ventures" - John Rausch's Classic Adventure and Jyym Pearson and Norman Sailer's Crowley Manor ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

The CASA category that you're talking about is "Related", not "Series". Saigon was definitely related to the other Jyym Pearson games in the Other Venture series. From its first release in Adventure International catalog vol. 3 no. 2 to vol. 3 no. 5 (the last one that I've seen), it was grouped ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

Adventure International changed the packaging and box art for their adventures around this time and the 'Other Venture' title was removed from 'The Curse of Crowley Manor' and 'Saigon: The Final Days'. I'm not sure about the others. Nevertheless, the instructions still referred to these as the ...

That doesn't surprise me. Adventure International could never get their act together. Dog Star Adventure was published elsewhere before AI got a hold of it.
