Re: C64 Mountain Valley

I like Brian's games, so I'll take a closer look at them when time permits. (Famous last words.)

Another item for marcus' attention. The download link for 'The Oasis of Shalimar' doesn't work. The filename should be 002.Oasis_of_Shalimar.d64.

Re: C64 Mountain Valley

Strident, would you like to add an entry for Ophir? I think that's the only one that's not in the database.

Re: C64 Mountain Valley

Regarding 2, I noticed that the image on the 8-Bit Text Adventures Facebook group had 'The Scroll of Akbar Khan' and a 5th missing game. I found them when I maximised the browser window. You need to do something about that. Please design for a fluid layout, not fixed size. The images should ...

Re: C64 Mountain Valley

1. I tried your disk image of 'The Mermaid and the Crown' in VICE and got a message saying 'TURN OF [sic] DRIVE AND TRY TO RELOAD'. I also tried converting it to a d64 image and autobooting using the emulator, but same result. Are there any secret loading instructions? The loading instructions on ...

Re: Recovered Adventures

Gotcha. He published many programs by other authors. These seem to be credited in the catalogue. I guess the assumption is that if there is no credit, then it's by A Knight. When I booted it up, there was no credit in the program itself.

Re: Recovered Adventures

Thanks for keeping us informed of these new discoveries.

Regarding Mad Monk, the instructions indicate that it was published by Merlin (Micro Systems Ltd). I'm not sure what that means. Were you able to confirm the author as A Knight, or was that just conjecture?

Re: Parlez-lui d'amour

It uses a pseudo-code compatible with that of The Quill (Gilsoft) except for an instruction to display the images: picture picno locno.

What do you mean? It sounds like you've written something that converts The Quill instructions to z-code.

Have you considered including the images by ...

Ha, ha, ha. I know I've played a few (including an illustrated German one for the Atari 8-bit that I translated to English), but I know that there are others that I haven't played.

Re: Recovered Adventures

Thanks for the info. I thought I was using the latest AppleWin, but when I checked, there is indeed a newer version that supports the woz format.

I had already found and downloaded woz2dsk, but you need to be a rocket scientist to work out how to use it. It has at least three dependencies that I've ...

Re: Dynacomp Adventures

Wow, some interesting games listed there. Dynacomp had hundreds of products in their catalogue and the quality wasn't particularly high. Most of the ones you've identified sound like genuine text adventures, but don't be surprised if some of them turn out to be RPG, simulation, CYOA or goodness ...

Re: Recovered Adventures

We have it listed here for Atari 800... I'm not sure if that Atari version is actually archived, so it's great to see an Apple II version

I have Survival for the Atari 8-bit, so it must be archived somewhere, as I didn't buy it back in the day.

These woz-a-day files are in the woz disk image ...

Re: Space Derelict! (type-in)

Maybe the developer can help you with the Model 4.
Good idea. I know Shawn. He's a fellow Aussie and I've tested one of his games. He's given me a few pointers to get started with the Model 4 autoboot.
