Re: Colossal Cave Adventure (Anubis Software)

Hmm... that is interesting.

I can't find any instances of flag 17 being set anywhere, but it obviously needs to be SET for the Plover section to trigger.

Flag 18 is SET by the emerald being dropped inside the Well House.

So look like a bug, yes.

Re: Colossal Cave Adventure (Anubis Software)

Hi,
I've tried to solve another Colossal Cave Adventure (the one from Ross Harris, Anubis Software, 1985 - I wonder why this is not in the 'Related' list), but there is a problem with the PLOVER command in Room Y2 (loc. 26) and in the Small chamber with the emerald (loc. 58); it doesn't work at ...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

I have, yes thanks. The document is on the backburner at the moment. When I'm less busy with work I'll revisit it as there's loads on the list that needs changing.

Yeah, it's hard to tell re. SYSMESS in the QL without having the software and trying it out. The behaviour of SYSMESS in PAWS doesn't ...

Re: Gilsoft PAW/Quill

Is The Quill manual for the Sinclair QL available anywhere?

Yes, but not the software itself. I'll dig out a link for you. (I have all the manuals here on my computer but I'll see where I got them from)

Edit: It's probably easier if I just zip it all up and share...

Re: Parlez-lui d'amour

So, I guess technically it wouldn't be too difficult for someone to back-port the game to an 8-bit Quill, PAWS or DAAD?

You didn't included a link, by the way. :)

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Great solution. It doesn't make the game sound that terrible, especially given the context of expectations in the genre at that time, but I am glad you played it rather than me. :)

It's a shame those other two games seem to be missing. And I do wonder if Dian herself, wrote the slightly infamous ...

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

What a fun idea for a focus for a website.

I think Garry almost does that sort of thing by playing every adaptation of The Time Machine. ;)

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Yes, it was your contributions that prompted me to do some research on Dian's games. Disappeared down another rabbit-hole looking at her sci-fi work too... probably more interesting than the adventures.

The PC mag article has a list of all the vocab for Phantom's Revenge which should help. :) As ...

"Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Did a bit of random digging this evening, as I do on any games that people comment on or add new material for.

This time it was for the games listed under "Temple Software"
http://solutionarchive.com/list/company%2C1285/
...but were actually published by Norell Data Systems.

They're old PC DOS ...

Re: Dynacomp Adventures

Starship Landing Party for the Atari 8-bit is listed on Atarimania, but it's MIA.

I'm actually wondering if Starship Landing Party is what became the MS-DOS game "Landing Party". The description is very similar but that one is more of a text-based strategy game.

Edit: Reading the description ...
