Re: message from deep space

HI - I'M BACK !!!
Welcome back, hope you had a good time.

OK - from reading the past posts I have now been able to get most of the keys APART from the key10 which everyone else seems to be having problems with, and KEY1 - where is this one?
I have got the rare gem.
There is no Key1, perhaps the ...

I would give decent hints if I could think some up, instead I've resorted to the "highlight to reveal method."

Key 2 - find where there is a hole shaped like an octagon and > DROP OCTAGON. <

Key 6 - find the location that leads to off to a room and > GO IN, to leave GO OUT. <

Key 9 - find the ...

As far as I can tell the only random part in this game is when you use the magic word. There is a 50% chance that you will be transported, and if transported there is equal probability of being sent to one of fifty-seven locations (there are eighty-five locations in total). I've found that the best ...

I'm wondering if it is a bug that is preventing me from picking up the Key10 segment, there certainly are other bugs in the game (such as the ability to pick up an object that is in a different location to yourself).

I'll have a look through the code, which will be an adventure in itself, to see if ...

Yup, I do post a lot. And I can be dogged and persistent. But I think I lack "je ne quoi ca" - that bit of something, related to creativity, I think. That's s OK - that's why this forum exists.
I meant contributions appearing on this page - http://solutionarchive.com/ - not the forum.

Would you ...

I haven't found the ancient building with the locked steel door. At least not from my map.

Can you tell me the vicinity of where it is?
It's near the beginning, the same place where you initially find the boatlike object.

At the cables, I was carrying (lots of red herrings I think):
ultrasonic ...

Ahhhh - that I can help with. Yes I've tried all kinds of verbs. Nada.

At the animal enclosure, go north, then south, then east, and all the way south.
I can't get this to work, were you carrying anything special?

Have you found the gem? I haven't.
Yes, it's in the ancient looking building ...

No to both of your questions.

Looks like you are going to have to help ME out, like maybe the order you took the keys in? or what locations you were in, in the order you got to them?
I have not used any special order in obtaining the keys or the gem [1], the problem is finding the words required ...

I've nearly finished, I just need to pick up the Key10 segment but despite having the pentagon I cannot work out how to do it. Has anyone managed this?

Also, HELP suggests that you push the animal out of the way, I've had no luck, has anyone else?

I can tell from the code that the magic word transportation is random, so no wonder I became lost after using it about twenty times in a row! I think I'll resist using the magic word until I have properly mapped out the game.

This game's a nightmare, I thought that by 1987 the practice of killing the player without suitable warning had been excised from the genre.

Is there a way to determine whether or not an object is safe to pick up, or whether it is safe to climb in a particular location? [1]

A few starters: you ...

Have you gotten the message that you see the Phantom actually pressing the switch?
Yes, in the sewer/entering through the grille sequence the messages you receive depend on whether or not you left the trapdoor open (you hear no music and the phantom disappears), or closed (you hear music and the ...

I found the XF25 file. The files in there do not all correspond to what it is that Juan has. I don't know what to do now.
Terri, you don't need all the ROMs, ATARIXL.ROM and ATARIBAS.ROM will suffice for this game. Just remember to set Atari > Machine Type to XL/XE and to make sure there is no ...

I seem to be in the same place as everyone else, though I have fixed the crossbow and loaded the bolt which no-one else has mentioned. I have also found the use for the lamp, it glows red in the presence of poisonous air.

No crashes as yet, but I had barely scratched the surface before I was shot by a guard.

I did manage to get a "print out" of the vocabulary though, took a few tries as the text kept disappearing from the print out file. The trick, if you're using AppleWin, is to wait a few seconds after typing ...
