Thanks for the new map as I hadn't found the sirens.

There are two more things I've discovered. First is a really horrible pun that I wouldn't have discovered if I hadn't opened the game in Wordpad in the search for verbs, and even then it took a few minutes for me to twig it (no pun intended from ...

I can now offer a little help with part 2.

If you go east of the location on the map (1) marked "Open Sea" you will find yourself in an area of sea with no wind. BLOW WHISTLE then explore, you should find a means to stop the lupins from wilting. What to do with the lupins, the cork tree, and ...

Re: Black Island Adventure (rarity!)

Hi folks,
I'm stuck in B.I.A. which runs on the Jupiter Ace, and I have a hunch that nobody has heard of either of these  Half right, I've heard of the computer but not the game.

From looking at the partial solution in the archive I take it you want help from part 2 onwards? Give me a day or ...

Re: Old adventure fanzines/magazine columns

Hello,

Welcome! It's nice to see a genuine new poster rather than dealing with a spammer for a change.

Do you know of any other magazines with adventure columns?

I have a few old magazines hidden away, I will have to check them to see which had adventure columns though off the top of my ...

Angus,
Jacob looks after the site, normally there is no spam but it may be that Jacob's currently on holiday or is otherwise indisposed.

2 cups = 1 pint
2 pints = 1 quart
4 quarts = 1 gallon

If you don't know this by heart, you are younger than I.
I know about pints, quarts, and gallons, it's just - as I said - that we don't have cup as a defined measure. We still use pints (and halves, thirds, and multiples of pints) for beer and ...

I've worked out a couple more, and with respect to Morton, after a little thought I suspect that he is the carpenter as the carpenter's room has a painting (duly edited above).

I still haven't worked out how to solve the shaped buttons puzzle, I've stared at the dungeon picture, I've tried to get a ...

Report Button

In an attempt to keep this forum spammer free, would it be possible to add a "report this post button" or similar?

Rather belatedly I've decided to have a crack at this game.

Anyway I have some answers to some of the questions that have been posed.

How were we supposed to know what page to read in the cookbook?
Thanks to the internet I've discovered that there are 2 US cups to 1 US pint. So you take the ...

HAVING ONLY ONE HAND MADE IT HARD TO COUNT
WHEN I WAS PACING OFF THE MAP BUT THE
SYSTEM I FIGURED OUT WORKED WELL. IT
SEEMS MORE NATURAL THAN THE NUMBERS I
LEARNED IN SCHOOL

Seems that it's using base 5 rather than base 10 (decimal) for counting, is that of any help?
No. How is it using any type ...

The news from 1999 ( http://solutionarchive.com/news99.php ) states that this is a list of updates for Druadic's site, unfortunately that site has either moved or is no more.

Dave, regarding random numbers would saving a game to a fresh tzx file, dying at the hands of the dwarf, then restoring your save game from the tzx work?

P.S. I'm not playing this game, just reading through the comments, so don't ask me for help.

I think I managed to locate one of the programmers, Steve Calkin:

http://www.bignose.uk.net/bignose/products.html

He (or at least I suppose it's him) has a web site with a guestbook:

http://www.labworth.co.uk/aboutme.html

I left him a message asking for any help he could give us.
Have you ...

I'm glad Doreen, that you didn't mind that we played without you. Somehow I didn't think we would solve it before you came back.

Maybe a slip of someone's finger, Alastair, to type 1, instead of 0 (though they are on different sides of the row (unless you are using a numberpad).

Could have been a ...
