Re: Ship Wrecked

I just saw your message! I don't know why I don't get notified by email when I receive a notification or a private message.

You're not the only one. They haven't got their email server set up properly. I reported this years ago and remind them of it occasionally, but clearly no one cares. If you ...

508 Resource Limit Is Reached

I know nobody cares about the web site and its many issues, but I thought I should report this one so that it can be duly ignored:

508 Resource Limit Is Reached

The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it is exceeding its resource limits. Please try again later.

Re: Downloads of fixed game images are broken

Thanks Alastair. I was unaware of the requirement to add a text file with the bug fixes. That makes sense, so I'll do that in future. For 'Halls of Death', I presume the fixes were those mentioned in the notes, but I don't know for sure, as that was a long time ago.

Downloads of fixed game images are broken

Downloads of fixed game images are broken if they're not in a zip file. Someone just told me that my upload of an atr disk image for The Halls of Death was broken, so I tried it myself and they were right. I've uploaded a new disk image to replace the old one, but DON'T UNZIP IT!

My correspondent ...

Re: New user registration is not acknowledged

As I have no idea how CASA's back end is set up, here's a few suggestions that may help:

phpBB SMTP email setup

Do a Google search for "emails sent from server to gmail addresses aren't received" (or similar) and you'll get hundreds of hits that will explain how to set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC ...

Re: New user registration is not acknowledged

It's been two years now and this issue still hasn't been fixed. I have yet another user asking me on behalf of a third party why his registration isn't working. For Christ's sake, all you have to do is to configure the server in accordance with Google's guidelines which are listed in the links I ...

Re: Umlauts and other diacritics are broken

A mass edit of individual characters is madness. They were fine in the past. Surely it's just a case of changing the encoding from ASCII (or ANSI) to UTF8.

Umlauts and other diacritics are broken

Try Games > Browse by language and select a language such as (say) Danish or German that uses diacritical marks. Now browse through the list of games and you'll see all sorts of strange characters where umlauts or other non-ASCII characters should appear in game titles and author's names.

Can ...

'Homo Sapiens' released for retro platforms

Hot on the heels of the two Murray Shannon games comes Homo Sapiens . As the name implies, this is set in the pre-historic age, so expect a landscape, story and puzzles appropriate for that period.

This is the 9th game from The BDB Project . It can be played online at Homo Sapiens or downloaded to ...

The BDB Project has recently released the two text adventures in the Murray Shannon series. These are The Seeds of Evil and The Horror of Goldmine City . These games were originally written in Italian by Bonaventura Di Bello for the C64 and ZX Spectrum in 1987. They have now been translated to ...
