Colossal Cave entries

Hi, I have noticed that the database contains entries for individual versions of Colossal Cave a.k.a. Adventure by Crowther and Woods. Most are commercial, but there are also a Basic version (Jim Gerrie), An Alan version, and a Quill version (Paul McGuire). I think the most important conversions sho...

Re: Request for Beta-Testers for ParserComp2021 game: "The Arkham Abomination"

Hi, I submitted my game to the ParserComp2021 competition. (Even though there may be a later revision or expansion of the game) FYI, I played and rated it. It was good and I was positively surprised about the parser, since you compare TAB to GAC etc. It would be good if it wasn't necessary to (fict...

(I may stick the two "World of..." games at the end for now, as Larry did retrospectively shuffle around the series order a little to insert the Fortress of Fear (once that game was completed).)
Sticking them at the end as you did, seems like a good solution. :thumb:

games related to The Dwarf of Direwood Forest

I saw that Larry Horsfield's upcoming game "The Dwarf of Direwood Forest" has been added to CASA, which is good but I think "Related" games may require some adjustment. The series where the player controls Alaric Blackmoon is called "The Adventures of Alaric Blackmoon". So far there are eight episod...

Re: 8bitAG.com/info

I've recently added a profile of Jack Lockerby and River Software... http://8bitag.com/info/river.html Very nice. I was thinking, that an article like this could inspire IF players from other branches of IF to look at Jack Lockerby's games. Many American IF players like the original Adventure and a...

Re: ADRIFT platforms

Let's be brutally honest, I think most people visit CASA to find hints or solutions to a game that they're already playing, not to find what games to play in the first place. Any information is better than no information at all. If that were the case, it would appear that all this work to improve o...

Re: ADRIFT platforms

My only slight reluctance to include browser as a platform for ADRIFT games would be their reliance on the availability of Webrunner on the Adrift website... which historically has suffered from issues. Yes, it was pretty unstable for a couple of years, but Campbell (creator of ADRIFT) have improve...

Re: ADRIFT platforms

@Denk: Yes, I think that adding the details in the notes would be fine. Thanks! I fully understand that you do not want to make more detailed distinctions such as ADRIFT 4 and 5 etc. Just to be sure I understand you completely: Utilizing the existing platforms (ADRIFT, PC and Browser) will be okay ...

Re: ADRIFT platforms

Thanks to both of you. As you both propose, I can add details in notes under synopsis, such as if it is ADRIFT 4 or 5 or both etc. I do have a question though: The notes section is probably the best place to mention the flavour of Adrift needed, and also whether it plays in a browser. Is there any r...

ADRIFT platforms

Hi, I was about to submit info on an ADRIFT game that wasn't in the database but then I came to think of which platforms should be added. For most ADRIFT-games, especially old ones, the platform is also ADRIFT. However, ADRIFT 5 is capable of creating stand-alone Windows executables. Most ADRIFT 5 g...

Re: Twine games?

I think you'll find that the CASA description was written many years ago when "interactive fiction" was still synonymous with "text adventure". How things change. Perhaps it could be updated to: "The site covers all platforms and the entire range of text adventures from the earliest mainframe title...

Re: Twine games?

If the majority of Twine games should not be included, perhaps the ABOUT text of CASA should be modified a bit. Currently, it says: "What is CASA? - All about text adventure games, the best (and oldest) type of computer game known to man! - The site covers all 8-bit and 16-bit formats, and the entir...

Oops - what do I do?

Hi, I am still learning how to submit information. I just submitted a walkthrough for "Fishing-trip, the" by John Wilson but accidentally attached the wrong file. Is there a way to withdraw what I submitted?
Thanks.
