Re: 8bitAG.com/info

Hi. There seems to be a bug in the Play Online QAOP version of Trolley Mania. After opening the grate with the rod, I can't search the drain for the keys. It works fine on the .z80 snapshot version, but not the online one.

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

RESTORE, as Pippa said, just returns to the beginning. Normally you either load arrays or simply do a number of "dummy" reads to get back to where you want. Alternatively, sine the MC-10 is a machine in the same vein as as the ZX81 and memory is at a premium, you load data directly into arrays from...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

Interesting! The only BASIC I really know is BBC BASIC, so I didn't realise that other BASICs didn't have a RESTORE command, which is kind of surprising because you'd think it'd be very useful. E.g. a similar hack (or the same one?!) seems to be needed in the following book about writing text adven...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

Pippa The crown is mine! What does these POKEs do? You say you don't know much about the MC-10 but it seems that you have figured out how to reset the RESTORE point for use by the READ command. Have I got that right? If so, this is a very useful set of POKEs. 75 RD=PEEK(173)+256*PEEK(174):FOR I=1TO...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

All that Atlantis business has inspired me to have a go at converting a game for the MC10. So here is Mini Adventure from Peter KIllworth's snappily titled book How to Write Adventure Games for the BBC Microcomputer Model B and Acorn Electron. A couple of warnings. First: first I'm not a very good p...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

I've ported Greg Hassett's Atlantis and Enchanted Island. Also "4 Mile Island" by Owl's Nest Software. Anyone solve 4 Mile Island Adventure? I'm working on it. Sorry to bring bad news, but your port of Atlantis has a bug in it. If you type HELP the program crashes with: ?UL ERROR IN 471 Anyway, I'v...

Re: Solaris, Sinclair Spectrum text adventure - Softel 1983

It looks like the machine code does a lot of the parsing. The machine code routine at address 65197 (called from line 45 in the BASIC) extracts the verb from the command. This means a full list of verbs isn't available in the BASIC listing. :( Once this is done, control returns to BASIC which does a...

Re: Adventure Challenge

OK, I have no idea what any of that MissingNuggets technobabble was about, and I can't see where Roger Daltrey fits in. But based on the pictures, is it "The Beginning of the End" ? (The beginning of The Simpsons, the co-ordinates for a town called Of, and Wile E. Coyote apparently facing his end. T...

Re: Adventure Challenge

OK. The letter P is in a Windows logo. One of the few Spanish words I remember from school is "ventana" for "window".

So I should be looking for a game with "Ventpanas" or "Ventapnas" in the title. But I can't seem to find one...

Re: Adventure Challenge

Sorry, I'm a bit thick skulled ;) The game must of course be Border Harrier  Yes! That's it! :D (IMHO the best puzzles are always ones that leave you thinking, "Of course, why didn't I think of it sooner!?!") 1. Alex - 10 points 2. Gunness - 9 points 3. Shornet - 7 points 4. Impomatic - 5 poin...

No. Getting colder. :(

Another hint: His full name's Harry Lime, so someone who's a bit like him could be described as Harry-ish. So someone who's more like him (but not the Harry-est) would be...?

No, but you're very close.

Another hint: Think of the Third Man's full name. How might you describe someone like him? How could you describe someone else who was more like him?

Re: Adventure Challenge

OK... A few more clues...

The image was a Spectrum screenshot as blatant hint that this is a Spectrum game.

The Third Man is only a very indirect clue to part of the title.

I used one of the words from the title in the post above.
