Pluses include being able to carry an unlimited number of objects, and having a list of verbs and background information. So, even if you are not sure whether you will need an object more than once, take it and keep it. The trickiest thing is knowing what objects to buy, and because you have a limited amount of money, if you choose the wrong ones, you will need to go back to a restored game, and backtrack. Objects to buy or otherwise get: helmet, sword, lantern, shield, rope, tinderbox, chainmail (though I'm not really sure about that). Talking to people is very helpful.
