This was my second Double Play Adventure, in this instalment you must return three magic artefacts to the gods of Gladsheim.
The play area is a decent size, and although the artefacts themselves are easy to find, you must negotiate a number of puzzles to complete the adventure.
You do have a fairy helper called 'Dave'. As far as I could see his main purpose was to spout irritating and repetitive nonsense, but he does serve a purpose...
Most puzzles are logical and quite satisfying to complete, apart from one which seems a little random, but the small inventory requires regular transit across the decent sized map to pick up abandoned or required items.
There is a scoring system but it adds little to the game. I scored 91% but have little idea of how that breaks down and how I could possibly achieve 100%.
I did enjoy this, but it was a little pedestrian, not as impressive as Sealed City.
Parser/Vocabulary (Rating: 6/10)
Simple but effective two word, works well enough.
Atmosphere (Rating: 6/10)
Not amazing, there is a some depth in areas where the characters add interest but they are pretty two-dimensional on the whole.
Cruelty (Rating: Nasty)
There are a number of points, some very close to each other, which lead to instant death with no 'get out of gaol'. There is also a point where not acting fast enough leads to your demise.
The most annoying bit is a place where once you've solved the puzzle, if you return you are trapped.
Puzzles (Rating: 7/10)
Mostly logical and pleasing, some trial and error needed.
Overall (Rating: 7/10)
Not an adventure that will keep you entertained for a long time, but it whiled away a long train journey in my case.
I will move on to the next Double Play Adventure in time (I'm slowly buying up the set) but I'm in no hurry.
