This is a Spectrum game. I have just gotten started, and am stuck already. Anyone willing to play along?

Well I have explored the house.
There appears to be something in the vase, but I cannot break it. How does one get it out? Is it the key?
Going down into the cellar the second time, one trips over something. Even with the light on, you don't know what it is. Any help here?
The lever behind the armour opens something, where?
Is there anything to do with the people? You can give them things, but which ones?
I can't get the gardener to give me the shears. Is it necessary to ask him when he is away from the garden?
The tapestry - it has a church on it, and some marks. I presume one needs a magnifying glass to read them, but where do I get a magnifying glass?
I've read the diary, but so far no note in code.

try giving Blunders the vase - then tell him to drop the vase.
The magnifying glass is to be found by entering the dumb waiter and exiting into the attic - you will need the torch which is found in the garden Random exits....
You need the feather duster from the maid, Maid give me feather duster.
Gardener Give me shears.
Shine the torch to read the graffiti in the cellar.
I have nothing else noted in that loacation.

Try that - there is a lot of random elements.

Have you been able to decipher the code? I tried alternating in many different ways, and nothing makes sense. I can find the words "bottle" and letter" but not by alternating.
The key - what does it open? The lab? Where is the lab?

Yes the random elements are frustrating especiallly in the garden where the exits change all the time and you can wander around endelessly.

It was such a long time since I played this - the key is for a gate at the church yard.
The vicar wants the diary and magazine.
In car get Blunders to drive to Heversham church / Scunsdale / Radley
Mansion / Dingley Dell
The wand is used at the bouncer.
Porkins has a ransom note.
You will find a tunnel in the study which leads to the lab. Push bookcase.
Drop some meat at the flies.
I think you need to carry the duster to get the shears.
I have not made notes regarding the code!!

Find the spade and the torch. Get the meat from the fridge. Enter the dumbwaiter and goto attic. Shine the torch and get the magnifying glass.

Ring the bell and get the ramsom note from Porkins.
Get the diary from ther bookcase. Examine the tapestry. Get and wear tie.
Shine troch to see the grafitti.

I am almost ready to give up this game.
I still cannot get the shears from the gardener whether I am carrying the duster, give him the duster, etc.
I cannot seem to wear the tie, only carry it.
The lever at the armour - you hear a creak - but what does it do.
I cannot PUSH BOOKCASE in the study to find a tunnel.

Forgive me if I have been a bit vague with some of the tips - it was a long long time since I played it and my hints and solution may have missed something out.
However I have now been looking through my hints and tips in my large selection of magazines and have found this...
Try tickling the gardener with the duster.
The armour makes a noise - the tips say it may be a red herring!
The tie from Prof Mundles room should be worn.
The tapestry and the words from the ransom note together

Going from the manor to other places then returning, does have some effect on what happens at different times.
