Ace is on the case!
But... I still don't get it. I've looked at that game a couple of times but discounted it. Maybe it's just me being dimwitted, but how does "Ace in the hole" tie into the various explanations, including "Sometimes missing the forehead makes you better"? It's Face minus F or something?

Yes.
Forehead also means "the front part of something", so given the picture of a "face" (with the top part missing or shaded), the text clue should have been interpreted just like that: "face" minus the forehead (or the front part) gives an "ace" which is a person very good at something (hence "it makes you better").
But if you think it's a bad clue I won't argue with that :)

I guess I should explain a bit the other clues:

1. Picture 1 in Clue 1: the top part of the picture with the face is missing. I thought this should point you to take the F off the "face" but I guess that was a bit far fetched. That's why I gave clue 1B.
2. Picture 1 in Clue 1B: the horizontal lines should have suggested to divide the word into its letters. Shading out the top region should have suggested discarding the first letter.
3. Picture 2 in all clues: the vertical lines/ spaces/ points should have suggested to somehow divide "hole" into the 4 separate letters ("H.O.L.E.")
4. Picture 1 in Clue 2 should have represented a tennis "ace".
5. Clue 3: We have Ace Ventura in a black hole.

Adventure Challenge Leaderboard:
1. Gunness - 6 points
2. Alex - 5 points
3. Eriorg - 3 points
4. Alastair - 1 point
5. Shornet - 1 point

Alex, it's on to you now.

Wow, it's not called Challenge without a reason! Let's just say that I really liked clue 3 :D
In hindsigt, of course, the tennis picture should have been a excellent guideline. I don't know why I missed that one.

I guess the clue with the face was very hard (at least for me :) ). I never would have thought of that one, but the others were quite good. Just one hint don't give too soon a new clue. Your last one made it quite easy and I had some more ideas with your second clue. Not everyone looks several times a day at the forum ;) (although I normally do :) ). I think it's better to give people a little more time to respond before you give a new clue.

I don't have much time right now, but tomorrow I'll put a new one (I already made it, I just have to find another picture). I'll hope it will be equally challenging.

Ok, sorry if I put the third clue too soon. I was under the impression that the game was loosing momentum and people were getting anxious to get over with it (it's more than a week I think since I've posted the first clue).

No problem, I agree it's sometimes very difficult to guess when people are without any ideas or when they are just a few days away and not looking at the forum.

Alas no.

If you understand one of the three pictures your chance of guessing the title is 50%. By the way red is not important.

That was exactly my impression, too, especially since the third picture set just seemed like a repetition of the first two.

Obviously the third picture shows Charon rowing a dead soul over Styx/Acheron into Hades. The first picture also shows an underground river. If I take the quoted part as another clue, the only worthwhile guess I can get from this is Hades by Adventure Workshop (there are two "Hades" games on CASA).
