To Preserve Quandic Trs80-coco

#1 Post by Alex »

This week I've been playing To Preserve Quandic. I managed to solve the first three parts, but unfortunately the version I found on the internet crashes after loading the fourth and final part QU4.BIN. I've uploaded a map and a solution to the first three parts. It would be nice to be able to finish the game. Is there someone who has a working copy?

Alex, it would be helpful if you could tell us where you downloaded your copy. Then at least I could file compare the non-working copy with a couple of images I have managed to find.

I've downloaded the game from these two places:

http://www.geocities.ws/trscp400/disk-in.html

http://archive.worldofdragon.org/archiv ... isk_Games/

Unfortunately both versions give the same error after loading part 4.

Thanks Alex. The Dragon Archive download was one of the copies I was thinking of, the other is contained within a file called 'Briza's Collection' which is a 800+ MB zip file! In the unlikely event that you do not want to download such a large file I have uploaded the relevant disk images below. I know that these images differ from the Dragon Archive images but I do not know if they allow you to finish the game.

Thanks Alastair for uploading the file!.

I was glad to see it is a different version than the two I found. The (buggy) cheat mode by typing HELP in part 1 is not available in this version.
Unfortunately after trying to play your version I get the same error after loading part 4:

?UL ERROR 201

From the list of error messages:
UL attempt to GOTO or GOSUB to a line that doesn't exist

Without being able to access the actual source code including line numbers it will be very hard to fix the error. Hopefully some other version exists without the error.
