Playing 'The Snow Queen'

#1 Post by Rich »

Anyone played this - I can't get out of the damn house. Kissed Grandma, got shoes and doll. OPened window but always keel over with starvation. No commands seem to open door or window.

Any hints much appreciated.

Hi Richard,
I've taken the liberty of updating the subject to "Snow Queen" rather than "Ice Queen" :)

There are two essential things if you are to leave the house. Kiss Gran and clean yourself up - there's a wash stand in your bedroom. Ignore the window and just head out the door. If you need further help, I've completed part 1 and most of part 2.

Neat game, by the way, if a little old fashioned.

Thanks Gunness,

Ref: Ice Queen - I'm obviously spending too many hours at the keyboard!

Ref: Snow Queen - Have now got into the boat and am afloat BUT cannot cross the river. Are there oars about?

I like this game too - St.Bride's were good on stories.

To continue from the boat... it's not an entirely logical puzzle, but in the original story, the girl gives the river something in order to get Kay back. Perhaps you should do the same? (hint hint!)

I must agree with St. Brides - too bad they didn't create more games. Secret of St. B. was really weird, but very atmospheric.

Let me know if you need further help.

Jacob,

I cannot find the raven in the garden. I have read the scroll, talked to the daisies and got the opal. I've fallen down the well, gone up a tree and had the dog follow me. Is there a way to get rid of the dog so the raven appears?

Rich,
The raven is outside the garden so you needn't worry about it just yet. You don't need to do anything to the dog as such, just get the opal and get away from the dog. In order to leave the garden, you need a key. Did you check those soldiers extra carefully yet?

I'm going crazy. I had this game when I was a kid, and completed it (although, if memory serves correctly even then we had to send off for a walkthrough from St Brides). I'm in the palace, got a thin present, tinderbox, file, candle, straw and two letters. I've dropped the book to soak up the water, twisted the queen bee's tail and now I can't find what to do anywhere. I think I've got to find Father Christmas in order to get an object to get past Mr Frost, and I'm pretty sure it's something to do with that damn upside down tree but it's driving me mad trying to remember what.

Any help would be appreciated.
