I'll send the files to you, but as far as I can tell, the "buggy" version of the game only omits a couple of messages, including the one with the tree.

Regarding the light, only the passage below the kitchen - where the butler is chained - is dark. So if you don't light the candle until you reach that area, you should have more than plenty of moves for getting him out of there.

In order to find the safe, you have to save the butler. Take him outside the castle, find the corpse.... and then watch some tv :)
If you watch the right channel, the safe will appear instead of the painting.

Good luck!

Has anyone has any luck with the safe yet? I've tried every conceivable combitation of "4" and "55", the numbers from the clock, but nothing works.

Have you had a chance to send the files to me? I may have missed them amidst all the spam I get...

Thanks!

Hmmm, he ran off as soon as I cut him loose...

Jacob - thanks for sending the fixed file and BeebEm - it works much better than the emu I was using.

You're welcome! As for the butler, the poor chap's been locked up forever. Give him a drink to calm his nerves :)

Yup, already gave the poor old fella the wine - found the body clutching the bottle of perfume - but, I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I haven't been able to do anything with the body or the perfume, and nothing is playing on the television after I discovered the body...

So, have ya'll made any progress with the button/moat/wooden box??

Those two things are closely related. If you READ BOTTLE, you're told that it's a Channel No. 5. Notice the spelling "error" :)

Did you manage to remove the Medusa and open the panel yet? You should be very close to where Andy and I are stuck ;)

No luck with moat or button yet.

Argh, I tried everything with the bottle except reading it  Yup, I took care of the Medussa and opened the panel awhile back. I hope to catch up with you 2 soon.

Okay, I've uncovered the safe. Surely, the time on the clock has something to do with it, yes? Nothing I have tried has worked (with dashes, without dashes, numbers spelled out, etc). I even resorted to including the chanel "5" at the beginning and end of the 4-55...

Welcome to the club :) I think that's where the rest of us are stuck, too.

Let's see (thinking out loud), I haven't figured out: the safe (assuming the clock time is the combo)...the do not press button...the hole in the ceiling...the croc in the moat..the empty wine bottle...the box in the graveyard...the door to the church...the skull...

Rats. I hoped that listing them here would give me some ideas, but - nada.

I've got to the bit where everyone seems to be stuck (safe combination, etc).

Has anyone got any further with this?? I am tearing out my hair. I tried 1655 (24hr) as the combo, but no joy.

No progress for me, but I'm certainly willing to give it another go, if anyone else will join in.

4:55 is five to five!

Now all we have to do is open the church door.
