alien from outer space - BBC

#1 Post by terri »

Any takers/helpers on this game?

Available on Stairway to Hell.

I don't usually play sci-fi games, since they are so "technical" in nature. This one doesn't seem so bad. However there seem to be some random elements (who you meet where and when). This tends to drive me batty.

It seems you need to find the alien and get rid of it.

The first thing you appear to need to do is get a light source (as the lights go out soon). I found that mapping carefully at the beginning, lets you move and "light" and "extinguish" the torch you find can be done, but this may not be necessary, as maybe the torch won't die out.

There is also a limited amount of objects you can carry (bummer). Once you find the leaf, you have some idea what to do.

So, not really knowing what you need and how to do it (have to build a bomb and that is "technical" IMHO, and where to do it, and not wanting to revisit every location again...

Doing things in the correct order may be important, but I don't know.

So...to this point, the slide tells me this "person" has no DNA, so he/it may be the alien.

PS. Appears to have been written in 2002. Is this "classic" or is the turn of the millenium the deciding factor?

Googling Incentive Software does not always list this game. (Not one of their best?) At the time "clue sheets" were available, but I have not found one on the 'net.

It's not a surprise; the poor old BBC is often forgotten for games! IIRC the BBC port of GAC (which this was written in) was the last one done, near the end of Incentive's publishing of text adventures.

The latest version of grackle (on the if-archive) now supports BBC GAC games, but using that would be cheating!

There is no way that this game was first released in 2002. I bought it as a teenager, and that was way back in the 1980s!

The game was released together with Dragon's Tooth back in 1987:
