Quest for the Holy Something

#1 Post by zenobifan »

Hi

I have completed this adventure and note there is no solution yet written for it. I wondered if anyone else would like to have a go at this two parter. My notes are all over the place but I should be able to help if you get stuck.

Why not write down a list of nicely cryptic hints and send them to Jacob? The site has too few of those, at least in my humble opinion. When I play a game and I'm stuck, I like it much more to get a little pointer, instead of having to rely on a full step-by-step solution.

Mark, my amigo, I couldn't agree more :thumb:
Cryptic hints would be a terrific addition!

I have played this game, and have written a solution and hints (though they tend to be outright and not so cryptic).

I thought I had sent it to Jacob, but then, maybe I hadn't. Or it got lost in cyberspace.

So I will send them off now.

Thanks terri, I have done just a few solutions and find them tedious to produce as I hate repeated playing the same game to write a coherent solution. I think I have a short attention span.

It can be tedious to write a solution, play the game again, fix your mistakes, and double check yet again. Then it gets boring to keep re-doing and re-doing. When a game has random elements it is even worse.

But the attention to that kind of detail (with no great thought needed after you have finished the game) is kinda rewarded by the fact that someone won't be swearing at you when they are playing your solution. By the time I play a solution I am pretty frustrated. I remember trying to play a solution of Buckaroo Banzai. An entire section had been omitted. The air was blue. I guess I am an "attention to detail" person, especially of other people's work. While I can sometimes forgive others their mistakes, I get annoyed at myself when I make them.

Others are creative which I envy. I don't mind the "drudge" work most of the time. Like checking other people's stuff. Picky work, yes, but someone's gotta do it. Makes me feel virtuous ...I leave the hard work to others.

The one exception is shovelling snow. Again, and again, and again. In a few hours, I'll be at that once more.
