OK, game over. I have bad news, though, the ending sequence freezes when the king is thanking you for saving him. It seems the copy available at Gamebase64 is corrupted.

I will write a walkthrough. Alex, I will include you in it because you provided the solution for two crucial puzzles (making the cart, casting the flying spell.) Let me know how you want to be credited (as Alex or some other name.)

I searched the web and found another version maybe it's ok. But I haven't reached the king yet. I have awoken the woman in the hut. I've got almost everything she asks for save the eye of the tiger. I guess I missed that one. Will keep searching though and will let you know if the other version is allright.

I even found today a map of the game on the internet. It's in a language I don't speak (Czech I guess because it's a website of that country) but it would have been handy allthough making my own map was more fun.

You can put my name Alex Dijkstra. Thanks for helping with the fish.

Did you ever try solving brave african huntress? maybe we can make it another topic? I've reached 80% but I am completely stuck with that one. I can't find a way to get the matches inside the prison.

I also finished the game. Alas I tried all three versions I've of this game but they all freeze after you give the bottle to the king.

Congratulations, fellows.

But I need some more help, and hope you can continue to offer it.

I am at the summit with the egg. I get a message that says TURN DISK.

How do I do that? I am playing on WinVice (can't remember which version). Reset doesn't work. The other disk is in German, I think.

Go to File, then to Attach disk image, then to Drive 8, click, a window will appear where you can select disk images, select the second disk image (BREW1.D64 if you are playing with the copy found at Gamebase64), press Attach.

No, I never tried that game. Maybe it's corrupted or bugged? This is a possibility. I myself have been stuck in games where it seems very likely that a bug in the original game or a corrupted copy is the reason for not being able to finish the game.

Example: Opera House for the C64 & Atari 400/800

I checked inside the game. The text which should appear at the end of the game is:

You give the bottle to the king. He takes it greedily and gulps down the liquid. After a short while he seems to be healthy and cured! 'Oh, you are my rescuer! You saved my life! I will give you half of my kingdom and my very dear daughter to be your wife! (or if you’re playing as a girl: my very dear son to be your husband!)

Let's have a great celebration!' The servants come running and prepare everything for the biggest celebration the kingdom has ever seen. You are the hero of the day and will live happily ever after with your wife (or husband)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I also checked all the pictures inside the game to see if one of them is for the ending, but there is no picture for it just the text.

Yes, I got the game from the site Juan had found it.

I think I looked for that, but it wasn't available. But I have been known to miss the obvious.

As I am looking through my Favourites list (and deleting useless stuff), I came across another C64 site, which actually offered the second disk.

So I'll try both. If neither work, I'll e-mail again.

Download the copy at Gamebase64:

http://www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=1109&d=18&h=0

You will find two files in it: BREW0.D64 and BREW1.D64

When you go to the chasm it will ask you to switch the disk and then press a key or the space bar. Follow the instructions I gave you earlier and insert BREW1.D64, then press the key/space bar as the game requests. It will load that screen.

Get ready to do this switching from one file to the other several times throughout the game, as more such request will follow later on as you advance.

OK I will try pressing buttons. You are referring to a "chasm" but there is no description of that.

Dagnabbit. I wrote a long explanation about what I did to finally access the chasm. I printed it (but since I use recycled, i.e. printed on one side already paper), can't read it too clearly, since there was stuff on both sides. When I went back to the forum to print it again, I found my message not there. So I forgot to send it? Aaargh.

So, clearly, these are my issues. I will now have to decipher what I did, just in case this happens again. It was no where near as simple as you folks made out.

But, I am at the chasm so, I will proceed and put these frustrations behind me.

Another technical problem.

I have followed your instructions at the chasm.

When I type in "SAY AIR! I AM A BIRD!" while on the horse, I get a message that it does not understand AIR A. So I tried various combinations of letters, CAPs etc. to get the game to recognize the exclamation point.

It doesn't even work when I am NOT on the horse.

I tried looking in the WinVice manual to get an idea of the keyboard, but it does not tell me anything.

Not to mention that I cannot FEED THE HORSE, since I have nothing to feed him with.

So, here again, I am having some peculiarities. Any help you folks can give me?

Post your solution, and I will follow it.

Maybe it will also help me to know what version of WinVice you are using.

My computer is acting up a bit, so maybe that is the problem?

This is getting more than tedious.

I don't understand why are you finding switching disks so complicated. I use WinVICE 1.22 and I did it just like I explained before.
