As far as I know which color you choose is unimportant. Ít's more that the whole story is about colors, but you'll find this out after you've past the chasm and have talked with some people.Juan wrote:

Re: The Brew - C64
Talking about the chasm, I still can't cast the spell. I eat the oak leaf, then the resin, then the head of the truffle (if you eat the whole thing you die.) But nothing happens. I hear nothing like the witch says you will.Alex wrote:As far as I know which color you choose is unimportant. As I wrote before it is not you who has to eat everything because if you do this you will fly into the sky leaving everything behind and the game ends. At the chasm:Juan wrote: Talking about the chasm, I still can't cast the spell. I eat the oak leaf, then the resin, then the head of the truffle (if you eat the whole thing you die.) CUT HEAD FROM TRUFFLE, MOUNT HORSE, FEED HORSE, FEED OAK LEAF, FEED RESIN, FEED HEAD OF TRUFFLE, PUT PEGGY INTO CART, SAY AIR! YOU ARE A BIRD!
This should get you accross the chasm together with all your things.
Re: The Brew - C64
If you like to try the spell on yourself just for fun it is at the chasm:
CUT HEAD FROM TRUFFLE, EAT OAK LEAF, EAT RESIN, EAT HEAD OF TRUFFLE, SAY AIR! I AM A BIRD!

Re: The Brew - C64
I just wanted to quit but I've found the lake and am sailing with the raft.
Re: The Brew - C64
Thanks fellows, I'll see how far I get.
When I mentioned that I thought this was for kids, it's because when you start, they ask you if you are a boy or a girl. While this may be a translation error, the rest of the narrative is pretty good.
No one mentioned where to find the pig, so I hope that it's along the way somewhere, not to mention feed for the horse.

Re: The Brew - C64
Seems I need to let Peggy go somewhere so she will get the truffle. It says she will dig in the soil, so I have tried various locations in the forest and waited, but so far nothing. Haven't yet tried up the mountain. Which I will do.
Is there soil somewhere else?
Not to mention that I have not yet found a chasm.
I haven't yet tried to kill the eagle with the spear. So I suppose I should try that.
In case that does not succeed, can you tell me, what next? Please (said nicely).
I appreciate the other hints (and clear directives).
It seems I need to find a road somewhere.
I can kill the eagle up in the mountain, but there seems no point in doing that until you have a covering for the egg.
Goodness, this is tricky. You folks are either much better than I, or you have found another way to figure things out. Ain't too logical IMHO.
FYI - I have made the cart and put everything (but my original shoes) in it, and have Peggy. Yes, I bought new blue shoes.
Maybe I need to MOUNT HORSE much earlier? Before I tie him to the cart?

I'm there too. It seems there are some fish in the lake. Any idea how to catch one? I tried with the spear but it does not let me.Alex wrote:I just wanted to quit but I've found the lake and am sailing with the raft.

The location of the truffle is somewhere in the woods. "Peggy" will go for it when you enter that screen.terri wrote:Seems I need to let Peggy go somewhere so she will get the truffle. It seems necessary to do so.I haven't yet tried to kill the eagle with the spear. So I suppose I should try that.
Until you find something better, just use your hands to keep it warm.I can kill the eagle up in the mountain, but there seems no point in doing that until you have a covering for the egg.
Yes, this game is pretty difficult in some parts. You have to use exact sequences of commands, or exact command lines, or do things in specific places.Goodness, this is tricky. You folks are either much better than I, or you have found another way to figure things out. Ain't too logical IMHO.

I recommend you take them off and put on the new shoes (I bought the red ones, and so far so good, so their color does not seem to matter, at least to this point in the game where I am at.)
No, that does not matter. But you have to mount the horse when casting the spell.Maybe I need to MOUNT HORSE much earlier? Before I tie him to the cart?

How did you do this? I also tried to catch it with the spear but didn't succeed. I did arrive at the river bank. found the radish and the sleeping flower but I'm now tied to a tree with a guard next to me and have to find some way to escape.

It was very easy (which made it quite tough to figure out, paradoxically), just carry the spear with you and then: Get fish with spear.
You need to say something to the guard for him to let you go. Go back to some of the conversations you had earlier on with some characters and you'll find out sooner or later.I did arrive at the river bank. found the radish and the sleeping flower but I'm now tied to a tree with a guard next to me and have to find some way to escape.
I have concocted a colorful "brew" already, which will apparently bring back all the color to this land, but now I am trying to figure out where to pour it. My prime suspect is the river, but so far I have not found the right line to accomplish this.
Re: The Brew - C64
Thanks I'll try it this evening. I tried 'catch fish with spear' but didn't think of get fish with spear.Juan wrote:

I'll try this also this evening but because it was allready 2 o'clock in the morning I deciced to stop playingJuan wrote:

Re: The Brew - C64
OK, I finally succeeded in doing this. The land is back to its normal color. This game requires very specific lines, and if you omit or change even one word it just doesn't work!Juan wrote:I have concocted a colorful "brew" already, which will apparently bring back all the color to this land, but now I am trying to figure out where to pour it.
