Secret Sam pt1 for BBC

#1 Post by buckweed »

Any one finished this? Or got into it at all? I played it when I was about 14, and gave up. I found it on an emulator site last week so am trying to complete unfinished business..I saw on another site that the grating in the airport lounge can be opened with a screwdriver when the agent is there. I can't for the life of me find the screwdriver. Any help at all on this game would be appreciated. It seems so simple but it is driving me nuts... please please please :? :thumb:

I have been spending a fair while on it. It doesn't have a save facility which made it annoying back in the day, though I see with the emulator it is possible to save progress. Anyway I digress...It is great to be able to play all the old adventures again...Level 9 and Infocom were my favourites...Also will have a look at a few you have posted about...Cheers... Mark

I can't seem to get started at all. When I EXAMINE the doors, it says I need to "look closely".

Can someone give me a hint on the correct verb/phrase to use please?

I think the the doors are just a red herring - at any rate you don't need to do anything with them to get started.

First off, go through the wide doors and locate a couple of items, then enter the dark area and try to keep yourself from getting killed :)

ENTER THIN or ENTER WIDE.... It seems that even the author of this adventure says it is a bit haphazard. It is slowly driving me crazy

I guess I didn't try ENTER.

You when you are writing to me, it's real words I need, not vague hints.

I found the grating but no screwdriver.

Anything to do at the microscope?

I don't suppose you can go back and insert the chip in the broken computer?

Yes the chip does mend the microscope. I read that you need the screwdriver and the agent with you to open the grating, which makes me think that the screwdriver is to be found before meeting the agent, and getting the chip. BUT WHERE???

There is something in the briefcase that rattles. How to open it, especially since it is handcuffed to your wrist?

KEY2 doesnt work....The program seems to recognize key3 key4, so at least there are other keys. From the dim and distant past (over 20 years ago) I seem to remember getting the screwdriver. I think I tried to INSERT it into grating, but didn't have the agent with me.... I think that it is a case of finding the correct verbs to use.... seem to be going round in circles

Keys???

I haven't found any keys. If Key2 doesn't work, that means you have found Key 1? Or maybe not?

Since you can't go back to the house via the way you came, the correct key should be somewhere at the beginning, no?

Obviously I do not have all that I need to have. Can you give me a hint?

Any way that you can use the gun?

AAH - there is some information that you are not giving us to use :( :o  :? :P  You were a touch ahead than the other players and you gave little help to them get to that point.

That is not really the way to help fellow players help you. You need to give them all the information so they can do that.

I have progressed some more.

You should not pick up the gun after the taxi ride (since you cannot drop it later).

Once you give the ticket at the airport (without the gun), ENTER DOOR (when in aeroplane WAIT (until you can enter the flightdeck; then the stewardess starts doing her thing). Then you go in and do something, and something happens and you do something and you find something).

That's obscure enough, isn't it. Jacob?

Before that, of course, you need to get the chip.

I'm still working on the rest, and settling down that more hints from you were not given. I realize you may have wished for us to find them on our own, but stil....

Sorry that i didn't tell you... i just presumed that if you reached the airport you would be able to fly.. Also, i managed to get a grenade to be dropped on floor during flight and managed to pick it up before entering flightdeck, but i cannot remember what i did and havent been able to do it again yet.....also have you reached the second (thief) agent in hotel past airfield by talking a WALK? sorry I don't want to ruin things, and I have no practice at obscure clues...I certainly dont mean to hold stuff back.. my bad..I havent gotten any further than this, just ending back at start, managing to do the repair to microscope and getting stuck after that......
