Ditto to all the things mentioned above.

East bank is a no go.

I haven't found the wizard. So if the dry well is where we need to be, then we have to get out of the caves somehow. But how?

Yes, I figured out the rope. But what to do down there?

I also haven't found the brass key and the Crown. Where are they?

If, As Dave suspects, one way is an entrance and one an exit, I guess we'd better find the correct way in.

Take the shovel with you and try digging in two different places...

True about the entrances/exits - but which way?

The room with the smoke and the door/light to the north leads to death
as does the brass door when it is unlocked...SO which way now?

We need to dig in three places, for the crown, the hilt and the key.

I too am stuck at the door. Maybe at the bottom of the pit (not the one with the newspaper) we wait? or call for help?

Problem is the limited number of objects one can carry, (I think we need - at least - the ladder, the lit lamp, the battery, the shovel).

So I think we need to find the wizard first. The feather is needed for the dragon, I think. Though who knows where it is?

Reading what I can, the wizard needs a battery for his hearing aid. He then lifts the curse, so I suppose we need to enter the cave via the apples. That implies that the wizard is somewhere in the caves, but then how to get out. Maybe the dragon takes us out, but then we need the feather. Once we have the hilt shouldn't we have the sword?

I suppose we can try to somehow put the sword in the hilt. But it may be best to wait until Juan writes us and tells us how and where he saw the Wizard.

I'm afraid I don't understand this. What pit? The one inside the caves? If so, you can't go west from there.
do you think that the well is the place with no corruption of water?
Maybe. But if you read the description of the part of the caves that the dwarf opens for you, it says that it's a dry and sweet smelling place. I suspect the parchment is giving clues as to how to get out of the caves. But "say aloud that which you feel"? I have said a bunch of things at that location already, and nothing happens.
Where did you find the wizard?
You need to drop the ladder at the cave room with smoke and light, otherwise if you try to go north you fall into the pit and die. Then you can access the next room without getting killed. The dragon is there. Just tickle him to death with the peacock's feather. The wizard's grotto is further north from the dragon's lair.
At the moment I have only found 8 locations here.
You die at the bottom of the pit, corridors, the grotto and the alcove, which is accessed by climbing the ladder.
Could you please clarify what room you mean by the "alcove"? Where is this?

Yes, the feather is needed to get past the dragon. Finding it is easy. Just go to the North bank of the lake, then to the garden of the small cottage. You will find a peacock there. Just try to take it. It will fly off leaving a feather behind.

Well I found the dragon and killed him with the sword.
Once you have the hilt and the sword it 'magically' comes together to form a 'Dragon Slayer' sword.

So I now have the parchment.

If you go back to the cave where you entered via the dwarf and 'go opening' you get the message about 'the wall closes' - I am beginning to think that there is a bug here.

As to what to 'say' it beats me....

Interesting. I did it but with the peacock's feather. It seems that there's more than one way to accomplish certain things in this game.

Never mind. I have found both of them now. You had to examine the musty cave to the west for the alcove to appear.

Game over!

#24 Post by Juan »

OK, I have finished the game. If any of you gives up let me know, I'll give the solution to the final puzzle.

There's quite a few red herrings in this game. The dry well, the little red fishes (obvious!), the brass door, etc.

I will write a walkthrough for the game and send it to Jacob. I will credit all participants: Doreen B, Terri and Dave.

I didn't really do much - I'd barely started when you guys pulled so far ahead! I'd be interested to see the solution though...

Write me too Juan. I have a feeling I will get the last puzzle.

While I'm not wuite there yet. all I could think of was being in the desert and saying "I feel thirsty."

What I meant to say in the last post is that I WON'T get it, but I did (but I cheated a little) by reading the listing.

Doreen, you need to have the feather. Killing the dragon with the sword doesn't work. The sword is one of those red herrings.

I actually finished the adventure with a saved game where I had killed the dragon with the sword, as it seemed more "fun" than with the feather. The "Dragon Slayer" sword has to be put together to work, the feather is already made.

OK, since Doreen and Dave are interested in knowing the answer to the final puzzle, and Terri apparently managed to discover it, I'll post it here:

Go to the dry and sweet smelling cave and say: WARM

How did I figure this out? Well I read the cave description carefully several times and it finally dawned on me that you must feel "warm", since the description says "I am in a small but strangely warm cave..."

Once you are out of the caves just go to the Royal Palace and give the crown to the King.
