terri wrote:Can you give a hint about where to use the ring?
You need to wear it to enter the clean room. If you don't you die.
terri wrote:And the attic, unless it's logical from after you use the ring?
There's a stack of boxes in the box-room than you can use.
terri wrote:The batteries, I presume are for a torch to go into the fireplace.

The mouse and the cat would be for the very end when the cat gets the King Fish.
Affirmative.
terri wrote:So far I have 5 fish.
I only got 8, plus the king fish and the fish in the bag. You should find the others in the box room, the chimney and the attic.

I think they may be red herrings.

Is the screwdriver necessary?

I thought I had tried everything in the storeroom.

It's used in the chimney (through the fireplace).

You probably have; there's a box room, to the far West of the landing, which I had to pull the key number from the code for as the only hint I can find for what it is is "the price of fish", and nothing tells you what the price of fish is! I don't feel like I'm giving anything away here: the key number is 250.

die you vicious fish

OK Dave and Terri - you seem to have cracked this game...

I have caught up with you both, I have got 8 fish killed and am now in the sleek room with the computer - what do you do here? I have the cat following me.

There is one major bug in the game - if you continue to 'unscrew panel' in the chimney, you can get another fish, and another, and another.
Once your score reaches above 99% then the scoe simply vanishes!!

Doreen, somewhere in the game there was a hint that said something like "type when at the end". So TYPE WHEN in the sleek room with the computer.

I kept unscrewing the panel until I got 99% (lots more than 10 fish altogether. You didn't even need to get to the attic. Or for that matter many of the other fish either once you have the keys, screwdriver, torch and batteries it seems to me, though maybe some of the puzzles needed to be solved first.

Thanks for the major answer, Dave.

So, the dustbin lid is a red herring. Any more that I've forgotten. Though I don't suppose hints for this game would be very helpful.

I don't think I solved one puzzle here on my own but I am willing to write this up (it'll get my mind off another difficult game).

It isn't: it's used as a protection to enter the box room (there's a hint about a dustbin or waste or something similar). You'll die if you don't have it...

I'm happy for somebody else to write it up; I still have another game I need to get 'round to replaying to do the write up and a lack of enthusiasm...

Just thought; having looked at the code, the score is based on 3 things:
  • Number of fish you kill
  • Number of rooms you visit
  • Number of items got (you just have to GET item, then DROP it, e.g. the pots and pans, or the phone book)
I managed to get it to 99% without exploiting the panel bug, it's up to whoever writes it up on how they want to do it!

It's the sign on the box room door that gives the hint about the dustbin lid.

'WARNING Stop Here If Enter Look Dustbin' The initian letters spell out the word 'SHIELD'.

Thanks for the tip re the computer - finished but with only 8 fish and the king fish.

Bit disappointing - now onto more amstrad advents Time Machine and Time Traveller 2,3 are quite good games - but as usual have come to a grinding halt.

About the dustbin lid - yup, I had tried that without it.

OK I'll amend the solution to GETing and DROPping. Maybe. My scratch notes are already in the recycling bag.

Not a very satisfying game.
