Murder at the Manor

#1 Post by terri »

Hi folks,

Yes, I know I post a lot of questions, but I have many, many unsolved games.

This game is available at WOS.

This is not be confused with Manor Murder.

This is an intriguing, though tedious game. Maps and a few hints are available at the Tipshop, though the former has some minor inaccuracies. The game has some quirks to it. TAKE/GET are not use; type PICK <object>. Not only can you carry a few objects at a time, there is a limit to how many objects you can drop in any location. This makes for careful notation about where you dropped things when the need to retrieve them arises.

Hints:

The game is played in real time, so press your Pause button if you need to think.

ASK <people> you meet. Sometimes they talk to you, sometimes they don't.

To use the ladder, type POSITION LADDER.

You need to avoid running into things, or doing some things, as both sap your strength. Eat the food to increase your strength. Save/store it at a place you remember to get it later.

There are many, many chance elements in this game. Every time you play it's different.

You need to SEARCH every location, as objects are hidden.

The verbs appear to be simple.

Help, please

I remember trying this game before. I can't get it to run correctly on my emulator and have to resort to playing it online at WOS <sigh>...

Just tried it again on my Speculator and it still misbehaves...

Funny, I play it on Spectaulator.

I downloaded the .tzx version, not the tap version.

Sometimes resetting to Spectrum 48, rather than 128 works.

See ya.
