Quest for the Power Rod

#1 Post by terri »

Hi folks

There are several places where I am stuck.

The first is at the barbed wire. While I can get into the clearing, there does not seem to be anything to do there.

Another place is after a create a gap, there is a complex maze, which does not appear to lead anywhere, though I acknowledge I may not have mapped it correctly, as I have few objects to do so adequately.

Other potential places are the pool, and the bed.

Help would be appreciated if anyone is willing to play along.

Okay, I'll play along on this one.

Just started - made it into the house and cant find anything to do with the bed other than sleep (which I think you can do most anywhere). Dont know what to do at the pool either. Made a brief stop in the cave where a bear shooed me away. Currently in the clearing and can not find anything useful to do with the notice.

Will keep plugging along.

Looks like we're stuck in the same places. Have you created the gap yet? You don't need any tools. Then tell me what you think of that maze....

Can you give me a nudge about the gap - you know how anxious I am to find myself in yet another maze

Of course - anything to give you another maze to conquer...

Two steps (or one) from the bear cave, MOVE/PART bushes, and go from there. Happy hunting.

Please tell me you have solved this maze. All I've been able to do is scribble several pages of maps that make no sense, and find my self back in the midst of the gap through which I entered unable to crawl north or south despite what the description says.

I only have 4 objects to drop to try to aid with mapping. Did you have more at your disposal?

Yes, I have tried to map the maze, but I can only find nine rooms, and they all appear to lead back to each other.

I have five objects: sword, lantern, cloak, snips, and fork (did you get that)? Still not enough to drop one item in each room.

Yes, I too cannot crawl n or s regardless of the description.

Sword -- what sword? I missed that one totally.

I think I found 13 locations but I can't be sure...

It's there on the first screen you get. The font is hard to read, so it can be easily missed.

I've been to 25 locations, not including the maze, and a few being lost in the the wires.

I'm away for a couple of days, so keep chugging along.

I've returned to this game after a 2+ year hiatus. But I am no further ahead. It is a difficult maze. It's a GAC game. I believe I am to "move bushes" at location 39. But there are no bushes here, just undergrowth, which doesn't work. So maybe the author wrote an incorrect noun?

Any help would be appreciated.

PS It's a Spectrum game.

How does the part with the barbed wire work? I try to cut them but it seems I just end up in the middle of it with no exit in sight.

Also, how does the lantern work? I write "Light lantern", and when I check the inventory it says it's lit, but when I enter the cave it's all dark.

Has anyone found the wedding ring the old woman is looking for?

While the location descriptions are identical, they are not really. I'm not sure you need to go in any specific direction. I believe I just CUT WIRE several times and eventually returned to a familiar location. All there is there is a notice, saying nothing. A useless diversion? I don't know. I must to something.

LIGHT LANTERN when you're in the bear cave. When he blows it out, light it again. He then breaks it. Then leave. All the time it's dark. Here also, I am not sure if this is even necessary. You'll find another light source. Hint it's in the old lady's house. Another hint - try three words, not two.

Nope. I have no idea where it is.

PS I am trying to use the "quote" feature. Hope it's readable.

OK, got it. Yes, I got to the notice, but couldn't find anything there either. The snips also get blunt. It seems that you can only do this once (unless there's a way to re-sharpen the snips.)

OK, I tried the bear cave thing. Seems useless so far.

I could not find the other light source, though. I tried a bunch of 3 word combinations but I did not hit upon the right one. Do you have a command list for the game?

And what happens if you try going back to the bear cave and using the other light source? Or how about using both of them?
