Does anyone know where to find a fully working copy of this game for the Spectrum? The Z80 snapshot file posted at World of Spectrum:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek ... id=0009585
does not work well. It freezes when you reach the second part of the game (tried on Spectaculator and EmuZWin and it fails on both.)
This Spectrum version seems a bit different than the one for the Commodore 64, and I don't mean the obvious difference in graphics and sound, but how the game is played and what you can and cannot do. For example, you can't just say "lock wheel" like in the C64 version, you actually have to do it step by step (turn rung into pin, place pin in slot, insert pin, and then lock wheel.) Despite the programmer's "confession" I am still interested in taking a crack at killing the Count in this Spectrum version.

Re: Castle of Terror for the Spectrum
Correction: I have been able to lock the wheel just by typing "lock wheel" after turning it into a pin (by examining it.) Still, there are other things that seem to differ from the C64 version. I can't examine the villagers, for example, or I can't examine the pot in the cottage, or eat the soup it contains (has anyone figured out if these things can be done using other commands in this Spectrum version?)Juan wrote: For example, you can't just say "lock wheel" like in the C64 version, you actually have to do it step by step (turn rung into pin, place pin in slot, insert pin, and then lock wheel.)
