Did you ever get any further in this game...
No. Those two creatures have kept me stuck.
It seems there is a random factor in killing/shooting the alien/snake etc.
I tried killing them a bunch of times, yet they were never hit.
I can't build the raft.
I need to check my saved games, but I think I was able to build it.

OK, I went back to my old saved games, and yes, I was able to build the raft. You need the following items to build it:

Hammer
Barrels
Wooden planks
Nails

Pick up all these items, so they are in your inventory, and then just type Build raft.

I have managed to get a long way into the game now...I only need to know where the welder is, to complete the game.

It isn't necessary to kill either the lizard or the snake - just the alien, I was wearing the helmet and had the laser when I kikked the alien.

Andreas - if you're out there - any hint as to where the welder is?

Is there a way past/down the acid pit, the gap on the walkway, or the deep shaft...???

I am also wearing the helmet while I keep shooting it, but it's useless, he never gets hit. Were you carrying anything else? Did you do something to the gun? Wearing the helmet does not appear to do the trick.

Barrie has a habit of being very specific with inputs.

I have written down ' kill alien with gun'

Try that - let me know if it does't work.

After some 20 times of "kill alien with gun", all with the same result ("You shoot at the alien and miss"), I think it's pretty safe to assume that this is not a "chance" thing. There must be something else you did to be able to successfully shoot this annoying club-brandishing fellow.

Can I make a suggestion...

Start again from the start and do NOT kill the snake or the lizard.

Just get and wear the helmet and then go straight to the alien and kill him.

I have just tried this out and it works.

As I said earlier you 'find' nothing by killing the lizard or snake. So they could just be red herrings...

Well I think I know where the welder is...

There is a walkway in the refinery which has a gap, now when you try to 'lay girder' - it says OK then you get the message memory full....

I've tried laying the tree and the branch but these don't work.

So it may be that it is bugged - unless someone else knows the answer...

Yes, that worked. Those two other creatures are indeed dead ends.

By the way, I can't seem to get past that electrified fence. I was thinking of placing the ladder against it and climbing it, but I can't seem to retrieve it from the underground caves without getting stuck down there.

You will need some timber to lean against the fence.

If you have built the raft do some sailing on the lake.

The tree can be layed 2 times in different places.

I have a small tree which I picked up North of where the lizard-like creature is. But that doesn't seem to work on the fence (at least not with "lay" or "lean" tree.)

Where is the lake? I don't think I have found this yet.

West side of gulch (north of the barrels) location - this is the location to 'lay tree' then go east.

South side of ravine 3 x north of your spaceship 'lay tree' here again.

That should open up the game for you.

Thanks for the tips.

Unfortunately, this game seems to be very buggy. I hit upon a new problem. When I try to lay the branch on the deep hole it gives me an error message that says:

O.K! It is in position.

Memory full in 3380

How did you get past this bug?

I have been able to get past the branch and deep hole area by starting the game again and getting more directly to the point. Now when I reach the electrified fence and try to lay the timber it gives me yet another error message:

Memory full in 1130

This thing is full of bugs! And it seems they are triggered the more moves you make in the game. I might have to repeat the whole thing yet again, but getting even more straight to the point with the least amount of moves.

Let me know if you have found any use for these objects or places, so I can stop wasting time and moves with them:

Pile of rocks
Strange stones
Water hole (you can drink and fill the canteen here, but I don't know if this is of any use.)
Dead mutant
Body

The canteen full of water is one of the items needed.
The pile of rocks/dead mutant/body/strange stone see to red herrings.

You need to 'lean' timber at the fence.

As you say there seems to be a lot of buggy places. I think I too need to replay this game from the start and only 'lay' the tree at the ravine and the gulch once only.

I hope that by the time I need to 'lay' girder at the walkway I do not get memory full.

How did Andreas manage to finish it - I have sent him a PM but have no messages from him?
