Board quota for attachments has been reached

#1 Post by iamaran » Thu Mar 14, 2024 7:30 pm

On the forum. Is that because there's a "one attachment per post" quota, or? Thanks.

Under admin statistics I see that the current size of posted attachments is 20 MiB, this may be the limit for attachments. I also see that there are 51 orphan attachments, but I cannot work out how to list them, let alone delete them.

It seems like some pruning is required.

It's definitely an issue as I couldn't add any at all to my last post just now.

People can manage their own attachments by first clicking on their own name (upper right) and choosing "User Control Panel". This should show the overview of the user control panel, clicking on "Manage attachments" will then take you to the relevant page.

iamaran, I see that your "Star Trek Adventure" picture has 24 bit planes despite having only four colours. Reducing the number of bit planes would make the file smaller, thus allowing the board to host more pictures.

Anyway I'm off to delete a few of my attachments so if you are quick you may be able to add some more attachments of your own.

I just struck the same issue. I'll see if managing my own attachments makes any difference. However, in a personal message, it said the file extensions weren't accepted. I tried png, txt and zip.

Nope. Deleted all my attachments in PMs and that made no difference.

I guess, but then again it is only 4Kb!
Only two attachments to my name.

Orphan attachments now stand at 53, up two from yesterday.

If anyone has deleted any attachments, or uploaded something but then decided against posting, within this period would you please check that the attachments have been removed.

I guess it should help if we remove the adventure challenge. This post has the most attachments and I guess nobody is reading it any longer.

It would help but only if we can remove it without creating orphan attachments. (See https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... _orphaned/ - Jacob can probably delete orphan attachments, I can not.)

Good point. I've removed 29 of my attachments (all from the adventure challenge). The others (38) I'll check which ones are interesting to keep.

Edit: in total I've removed 46 of the attachments I had uploaded.

I've deleted my one "Adventure Challenge" attachment (so long my attempt at a 'most devious challenge' picture).

Mostly thanks to everyone else who has deleted attachments the size of posted attachments is currently down to 15.54 MiB.
