Speccy game.
'm just at the beginning of this game. Any willing participants out there?

At this point I have the key, talisman, card, jar, having given the key to the wizard.

Sorry, I gave the bats wings to the wizard, not the key.

I have made just a "titch" more progress. I found the honey, got past the ant, got the sword and defeated the spectres by rubbing the talisman.

Now I am stuck again.

This seems to be a good game. I presume locations need to be revisited. But it's slow going for me. I invite those intrepid souls who like challenges to help.

You can "open" the game (original file once you unzip it), and get some info about verbs, nouns, messages, but I have not yet been able to figure out the configuration. However, it seems to be "crackable" for those that understand it.

So, come on there, Doreen, Alastair, Amby (wherever you are), and other colleagues. You too Jacob. Let's collaborate. This may be difficult to do in our respective workplaces, but we are a "communal" group here.

I have still lots of unsolved games... For those of you in the northern climes, it will soon get too hot to do much of anything outside. I have had the storm windows taken off my house, so air is coming into the computer room. Take pity on me before it gets too hot...

I have solved this game 8th day software.

My notes says that the wraiths/spectres are random 'rub talisman' till gone.

'rub oil' must be completed before entering loc where insects are.

If you any more hints let me know.

By "oil" do you mean the brown liquid on the steep path? How do I get it? FILL JAR doesn't work, nor does RUB OIL or RUB LIQUID.

What a nice game. I am slowly puttering around, retrieving objects, and thoroughly enjoying myself. Glad you are there to help me out.

I am on the ship (boat - too bad it doesn't recognize that word). Now what? Do I WAIT interminably? Something is supposed to happen, no?

This game sounds like fun, and something I can maybe actually finish in the few hours I have to spare before going back to work. I've only just started so all I've managed to do so far is get past the ants and find myself standing outside a pokey wizards cave... Is anyone mapping this one as they go along or shall I try to do so in a pitiful attempt to actually contribute to this archive?

Good to hear from you Amby.
Since I don't map, you are more than welcome to do so. Sounds like Doreen has finished this game, though I don't know if she has made a map.

If you have the bats wing and give it to the wizard, you'll get something in return. I don't know if you can actually get into the cave.

I believe most objects are necessary, though don't know how many times. Since there is a limit of things you can carry (5), it's a bit tedious to have to go and retrieve them.

Have fun - are you still working those crazy hours?

Sorry about those multiple identical posts. The screen kept freezing.

I presently have the sword, talisman, card and jar. I have spent some time on the Steep Path trying to figure out what to do with the 'thick brown liquid' to no avail. - and have died more than once on the old path due to insects...slight nudges, that I can use when I return home next week, would be greatly appreciated.

Big thanks to DB for sending me her map ==

That's where Doreen's hint about rub oil comews in - to get past the insects. The verb (with the jar) is COLLECT. Have the sword with you. You may need to go back several times to collect the things you have to drop

Do you have the key? Look around the well. Have you gotten past the ant? Around the tree is an object that is needed.

Whew - I'm back from the wilds of Kentucky... I've made it past the ant and the insects. I back-tracked some and have just arrived at the well with the sword, talisman, card, oil and jar. I've also come across, but shied away from, an eagle, a net/mouse in a strange clearing, some rocks/insects in the desert and the crack in the floor of the small cave where I originally found the jar, wing and card. Any glaring errors/omissions?

I have killed the eagle. For that you need an object from the forest. Once past there, more possibilities open up.

I think you may need the mouse. Plus I think you can safely drop the jar once past the insects.

I am waiting for some more hints from Doreen, but nada yet.

The sword is needed at the web, as well as what you find there.

the mouse is needed at the giants - 'show mouse'

You 115 coins to board the ship 'play cards' with the pirate to win.
The web has more coins if you loose.
'ask how much' to board ship.

when the ship is attacked 15 is the sngle for the cannon.

the birdman is random he will carry you to anothe place.

you need the card.

the rope is for anothe form of water transport.

grain is needed for the birdman.

See how you get on with these hints.

See you
Doreen
