Ziggarat of Dread

#1 Post by Amby »

Looks like I missed all the action on Swordstorm and everyone will be done before I start playing. However, since QN was kind enough to send me a map, I think I'll give the game a go on my own anyway.

I'm also back to working on Ziggarat and could use some help - I've killed the boar, but can't seem to do anything with the body. I've also been able to immerse one thing in the sacred river, but it doesn't seem to be of much use so far. I also have a few other things (an ancient scroll that crumbles when I try to read it, a dagger etc). I also haven't figured out what to do with the mutated slave or the kranabold's iron helm.

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction?

I've immersed 2 objects in the river, found the leather bag but don't know how to get the Krankabold to accept it; not sure what to do with the slab/priest either. Nudges?

Well, I walked around a little bit,but I don´t really have an idea what to do. Can you get in contact with other characters (because ´give´ and ´talk´ etc seems to be not understanded). So I don´t know the importance of the Sage,Slave or Priest.
And immersing something I´ve never tried,so I hope it gets me a little further.

Guido,

QUESTION any characters you come across and make careful note of what they say as they will cue you on some of the very few verbs this game seems to understand.

Also, EXAMINE and SEARCH everything mentioned in the 'there is' section of each location. Also try parting the briars.

And if you haven't already noticed, the parser uses the first word of an object to identify it, so to get a red box you would need to type GET RED.

Question

#5 Post by Guido »

Ok,Question it is. I would have never tried it .
The Search/examine thing I´ve already noticed (i´ve seen games of this kind before) .
But now I´ve to "Question" some persons about something.

(but is there really a verb "question")

amby,so let´s make it brief, where is the bag and what second item you dip in the river???

Cheating is easy in this case, but I won´t do it if there´s no other way :|

Leather bag can be found 2 screens west of the river by PART BRIARS. The 2nd item to immerse is the scroll (which is very dry if you try to read it when you first find it, but is readable once wet).

I'm currently stuck on what to do with what I got from the priest after I took care of him - and I still can't get the iron helm from the Krankabold...

questionning

#9 Post by terri »

Questionning the sage gives a red herring clue, but part of the clue is necessary (i.e. you need to immerse two things which you guys have already done. Try giving Krank something you have acquired. Pebbles appear to be a currency, i.e. money.

Some locations descriptions sound very similar to others. So be sure you know where you are.

I have not found anything to do after I killed the wild boar, though that doesn't mean there is nothing to do.

Remember to search the priest's body. There is more than one scroll. Remember the adjectives.

You get something when you search the body of the mutated slave which you killed.

The bone is needed at the ziggarat. At one of the entrances - there are two. One of the objects you find there will help you get out.

RECITE is a necessary verb.

The green club (or spear) helps with the rats?

There seems to be one set of rubbish you cannot search and one mutated slave you cannot kill.

You need a key to free your sister, but where is it?

I am stuck in going east from the ruins. They fall on me despite the helm.

Hope these hints help, as I can't seem to go on much farther. I am glad there is a group of us here. I have plenty more games that are unfinished.

Thanks for the tips, especially RECITE - that's one I hadn't thought to try.

I'm still having trouble giving anything to Krankabold, the game keeps saying "I don't know how to give" - offer, hand, trade, exchange, swap, drop, switch don't work either. Either it's another verb I haven't thought of, or I'm trying to give Krank the wrong thing.

Happy Holidays All.

further along, but...

You guys may not yet have caught up.

But there may be a glitch in the game, and I don't want you to play for naught.

I need to learn to take my own advice about many locations seeming the same. Careful mapping is important.

QN or Guido (whoever cracks these games): at the high priest's place, there are three exits. I can't seem to go south - it boots me out of the game. Can you check whether I need to be carrying something specific, or what I need to do to not have that happen. There is an obejct there that I think I need.

Maybe I need to go to the inner sanctum first (where there is a key, but I have not found a verb that works. In this game, verbs are important.

This is one of those times when I really wish I had a verb list (shhh, don't tell Jacob I said that) :)

I'm down below the slab and have seen my sister behind a locked door. Now I can't get out! I thought perhaps if I inserted the wooden stake in the small hole, something would happen. The game keeps telling me "it doesn't fit" but I don't know to make the stake smaller (or even if this is the right tack to take). Or is there another way out of here that I'm overlooking?

maybe

#14 Post by terri »

My saves in this games are all over the map, so to speak.

When you EXAMINE CELL and see your sister, you should be able to go W, E, N, UP (and that should take you to where you began this section). Then you go S, E, W, D, N, W, D. And there you begin the saga of where I am stuck because of glitches. Keep trucking. Maybe you will get something I didn't.

You will find the key later, but I don't know how to get it.
