OK - so maybe the point is to see how many treasures one can get out, not that you need to get all of them. The coins for instance is a treasure, but if you need more batteries?...

So I'll swing over and see what I find. There's got to be a key somewhere, no?

Not a very satisfying game.

A touch more progress.

Speak Thy Reply.

What do you say? How do you find out what to say? Is this the WIN/LOSE proposition?

I'm way behind you. I've just started exploring the 3rd pyramid and thus far have been stopped in my tracks by the lack of a key and have been crushed in the cramped chamber.

And I'm still haunted by my inability to get the pendant from the satyr in the second pyramid.

Plus I simply refuse to use my coins to buy batteries...

No, you are not really a way behind.

To get the key you need to have the pole to use in the crushing room.
To get the pole you need to go down one of those holes, find your way around back to where you dropped some things (at the other hole), drop things, and go back and retrieve things, i.e. walk in a "circle".

Two cryptic verb hints: strawberry___; do as Tarzan did (two words)

As Alastair suggested, I play through with light, then do it all again without light.

Maybe one can go back into the second pyramid later?

Or we need to know what to do at the Satyr.

I haven't given up the coins either/.

So little time to play tonight. I'm just now getting to the "speak thy reply" area...Thanks for all the help so far.

Is anyone creating a map as they go? I doubt my notes will make much of a solution but I am mapping...

Well I've finished it with a score of 500 so it seems that the pendant and the satyr are red herrings, just remember to put all the treasures in the tent before tackling the mask.

Amby, I have already done a map and submitted it.

For "speak thy reply" remember what is written on the duck statue.

(If you never saw "Dangermouse" parts of this adventure may not mean anything to you, especially the losing screen. Needless to say, this game does not do Dangermouse or the show-biz mad vampire duck any justice. I wonder if Cosgrove Hall knew of this game?)

Before I redo everything again, do I need to have the statue of the duck with me? When I enter "south of the reply?" Whether I rub the lamp first or take the mask first, I die.

I did not have the duck statue with me, as it is a treasure it was in the tent.

Strange, RUB LAMP worked for me.

Ok so what do you need to do where you find ther mask?
RUB LAMP did not work - I died.
What did you have with you?
I can't return with the key to the tent, so it must not be one of the artifacts that give you points.

I only finish with 480.
So just to be able to write up a solution with 500 points (not to mention any statisfaction about finishing the game) there is something I am not doing correctly.

I have dopped off the gold and coins at the tent.

Any help you can give me without playing 3/4 of the game again?

Let's see, the treasures are a golden sword, a golden shield, a golden helmet, some gold coins, a small gold statue of a duck, a box of emeralds, a silver dagger, and a small bar of gold.

Hold on, I've had a thought, if you get a final score of 480 then that means you succeeded in destroying the mask, if you had failed then your score would be 160 or less. To check does the game say the following?

A cloud of smoke billows from the lamp & a genie appears. There is a blinding flask & he destroys the mask & vanishes! There is another flash & you find yourself in an oasis, among the palm trees is a chest of fabulous treasure - all yours!!
CONGRATULATIONS you were clever enough to see through the farce & save yourself from a fate worse than death! If I were you I would keep clear of pyramids in future!!

Yes I do get that message.

And I don't think I dropped off the silver dagger in the tent.

So I'll play 5/8 of the game again and see what score I get.

Thanks for your help. It's still an unsatisfyting game in my opinion.

See you at Woodland Terror.

Well I'm done. The dagger was the other 20 points.

Solution written though it took a while.

Time to take a short break - I can write things in the dust here.
