valley of the kings (BBC game not the other one)

#1 Post by terri »

Although Dorothy has a solution to Valley of the Kings, it's not this game.

Anyway, going along nicely, until the slab.

Any idea how to move it (even with the pole)?

Going west after you get the water shuts the door behind you. Then what?

Anyone do anything with the camels? I haven't tried giving them water, but... camels apparently hoard it better than we do, so...

Same here. Can't get past the slab or get back out of the 1st pyramid. I keep thinking there should be something to do at the breezy "cracks in the stonework" area.

I have: flask, spade, torch (which is already dying and I sure haven't found any gold coins to pay for more batteries), pole and golden sword.

I haven't tried to do much with the hobbled camels other than to attempt to ride/mount and untie them.

There must be a use for the pole...

I tried lifting the slab with the pole, but no go.
Maybe at the crack?

I keep thinking that the pyramid with the sword (since it is described as the first pyramid) is the place to focus on, but I can't come up with anything that works at either the crack in the stonework or the wall with the hieroglyphs. Pushing, pulling, moving, raising, prying, prising, levering, climbing, vaulting, jumping, inserting, putting, climbing, reading, translating - nada. I even tried extinguishing my torch near the cracks to see if something showed up in the dark...

No luck with the slab.

No luck with the third pyramid other than to get to the statue's left shoulder.

Help :?

OK -so we're stuck in the same places. BTW you did enter the car right at the beginning, no? You need the book for translating the hieroglyphics. Still, all that tells you is that yout need to be worthy at the slab..

Looks like we need help from others.

..."the Great God Acro-Bat"... No amount of praying has helped and I still can't seem to devine how to use the pole.

You have to pray in the right place, and the pole is used in the second pyramid so do not take it into the first.

I am not sure how far you are in the first pyramid, so to get out of the first part PUSH WALL in the room with the cracks. In the second part you need to drop an item, then further on move the basket. It is in the third part where the "praying room" is located.

Regarding the first pyramid, I have been unable to open the basket without dying so I do not know if there is anything useful in the basket. And I have yet to leave the pyramid with the diamond.

Well, you can't actually leave the pyramid with the diamond, but you can use it to get out. Then you can go back and retrieve the things you left behind. But no diamond.

However, to explore further you need some more light, or maybe matches once you have the lamp. Any luck in getting another battery?

Voila one finds another pole. I wonder if you need both (to get back maybe?)

I have no idea if you can do anything with the basket with the cobra

Have you found what to do at the shoulder?

Thanks Alastair. I've made my way into the second pyramid but alas I'm out of light... Much too late tonight to explore further. I really should have skipped dinner/dishes/laundry so I could have played earlier...

You can always turn the torch off (EXTINGUISH TORCH) and move about in the dark - I suppose you have to buy extra batteries from the Arabs at the camp fire. My tip is to save the game before entering each pyramid then search the pyramid, and once you have worked out what to do go back to the saved game and complete the pyramid as fast as possible.

I don't think you can light the lamp, but try rubbing it.

As for the shoulder, no idea, perhaps it has a use after you complete the second or third pyramid.

Well I have made a bit more progress, but it's not satisfactory. I cannot get all the things out of the south pyramid. The pendant gets me chased by the satyr and I either get killed or run out of air.

Any help here anyone can give me. I tried killing the satyr with the sword or having the shield but that doesn't help.

Then the east pyramid... How does one get the ankh off the wall? Notwithstanding you need to drop most everything. I haven't yet explored west of the pit but I'll probably run into the mask.

Does that maybe scare the satyr away?

How are you guys faring?

I'm having the same problem with the Satyr. I had the idea that if I could get it to chase me long enough to get to the room with satyr engraved on the floor it would fall through or something - but so far no luck.

And once I get to the secret chamber I can't figure out how to get out. I keep getting killed when the roof collapses...

Regarding the satyr, I've had no luck either.

Amby, to get past the roof collapse RUN West.
Terri, I don't think you can take the ankh as it is part of the room description, you can however tie the rope to it.
