Also a Spectrum game. Playing with someone else would be nice, since I am stuck.

This is what I have done so far, though not necessarily in this order.

I have a key to open the door. The umbrella (I think it's needed for those locations where it rains) - OPEN UMBRELLA does not work, PUT is the correct verb.

Got the letter and the glasses and read the letter and mailed it.

Got past the football fan.

Got a ticket and a tape.

Gave the woman what she needed.

Got the book, chop, tablet, card, sweets, bucket.

Eating the chop takes you to the hospital - you need to go there to get an object - but this way?

I have managed to acquire the jack, the file, sandpaper, oil, drill, screwdriver.

The problem is that I can't seem to get out of this area.

This game seems to be quite good if a little slow.

I have got the following tools -
pliers
oil
screwdriver
jack
spanner
file
drill
axe

I know where the saw is but have been unable to get it - its in the dustbin some stray cats will follow you to the dustbin then turn it over.
HOWEVER you are then required to play an ARCADE game called CITY BOMBER?@??+_(*&%$

I HATE ARCADE

So I gave up on this one.
IT would be nice to know where the sandpaper is though.
If the arcade bit was taken out it would be OK.

I quite agree - I HATE arcades too.

Yes, I ran into the cats too.

But tell me where you found the pliers, spanner and axe. So, just to say we made a good attempt, and quit just before the arcade.

Other than the hammer we have all the tools.

If you give the boy the pop, you get the sandpaper, but then how to get out?

Hi,

Just 'wait' at the location with the boy - he will go into the next room and you leave.

The pliers are found inside the box near town hall, you need to break box.
The spanner is found in the stores of the house, after you have put out the fire, with bucket and water.

The axe is found in the north part of the car park.

As far as I am concerned this game is now finished as I have - or know where all the tools are.

Thanks Doreen

Now that I look at my map I see I have written "axe". D-u-u-h.

Where did you fill the bucket?

Yup - no arcade.

Hello Ladies,

I have finished the game, therefore it, the WoS version at any rate, is not bugged.

To get the hammer you first need an identity paper, go to the Bendover Hotel and WAIT. Now go to the office building and GIVE GUARD PAPER. Inside the office building is the hammer and also a tape recorder. The tape recorder is unnecessary, but if you wish INSERT TAPE, PRESS PLAY.

Regarding the arcade game, I turned the emulator speed up to full then kept the space bar pressed, waiting until just a few buildings remained before releasing the space bar and timing the bombs. It took three or four goes, but eventually I cleared the city. (Increasing the speed reduced the time spent waiting between each go.)

Thirdly, the axe is not one of your tools. The tools are drill, file, hammer, jack, oil, pliers, sandpaper, saw, screwdriver, and spanner.

Finally, to finish the game not only do you have to carry all the tools and be outside your garage, but you also have to tell the man inside the garage that you have all the tools. As you have noticed, the game is pernickety in regards to vocabulary, I found that SAY FOUND THEM works, there may be other commands that also work.

Well done Alastair....it's nice to know that it is finishable and not bugged.

As far as I am concerned I will NOT be tweeking the emulator to play the arcade section, much too complicated for me.

At least I now know where all the tools are. Thanks.

I tried your trick Alastair, to set the speed at max, and just hold down the space bar. Eventually (not too long) it worked. Not that I will play arcade games, but I hope that I remember this should the need ever again arise.
