Use your Loaf

#1 Post by terri »

Hello anyone,
I have been trying, with only moderate success, to play this Spectrum game. It requires getting the ingredients to bake a loaf of bread. This is one of those games that require you to be holding objects before an action can be executed. I am stuck in two places, at the boat (with an oar) but unable to get into it, and after using the hanglider, but unable to get out.

Any help would be appreciated.
Happy New Year.

Have you tried just dropping the hanglider after use.

Same with the boar and oar - after row north etc - drop boat at destination.

I guess I tried everything except ROW NORTH.

But I am still stuck with the hanglider and the axe below the cliff. How do I get back up?

Also, where to mix the ingredients? At the work table in the hut? I think I have everything I need - flour, salt, yeast, bottle of water, bowl, but MIX INGREDIENTS, or PUT < > IN BOWL, doesn't work.

A few more nudges please.

Bottom of cliff - you need some springs from a mattress and some rope to tie them on - then jump up.

You still have something missing - lard, a tin, some gloves - you MIX INGREDIENTS then KNEAD DOUGH in granny's kitchen.

Hope that helps

I have the lard and the tin. What I don't have is the springs and the gloves. I'll keep looking.

Mauybe what I should be asking is how to get past the dog? Give him a bone? I have tried digging everywhere but maybe I missed a spot?

Aha
I see the problem you can't find the springs till you have passed the dog.

In my solution at the butchers shop there is a butcher AND an assistant BUT it is NOT shown.....

You need to TALK TO BUTCHER I think if you have the money you will get a bone.
TALK TO ASSISTANT to receive a sandwich who you give to the tramp.

Once past the dog the items you seek are there.

Thanks Doreen,

After many futile attempts to get the bread (I kept getting a message that I was carrying too much when I had nothing - bug?), I got the .Z80 version, rather than the .tzx version and had to start over.

So I got the bread.

However now I need a ring. I thought of onion rings, but that just seems too silly. Besides I can't get the onions.

Any hints on where the ring is, or how to make one? Before I come up with other ludicrous ideas, that likely won't work?

LIFT BATH??? As in steal? As in take a bath?

This game is so full of bugs -aargh. Have to do some things in an exact sequence....Can't see the butcher but you are expected to talk to a mirage....Can't pick some things up, once you've dropped them or even if you are carrying nothing....Too bad. Nice premise.
Thanks for your help. I've written a solution and hints from both of us.

Til the next one.
