Adventure Challenge
Hi everyone. Let’s start the first quiz. The idea of the game is for one person to give a few cryptic clues and for the others to guess which game it is. These clues could be about the title, the author, the company or even a puzzle inside a game. The clues are given by giving cryptic messages or pictures.
The Rules:
-The game must be in the CASA database
-Anyone can join the competition
-When you've made a guess, you must wait for someone else to guess before you can make a new guess OR wait for 8 hours
-You get one point for every game you guess right
-If you guess the right game you are obliged to make the next quiz question
-If it is your turn to give the clues, you agree to respond at the most within a week (but sooner is even better)
-The casa staff will keep trace of the points obtained and will urge anyone if they take more than one week to respond to a given answer.
-If you join the competition you agree with all of the above rules
Example
To get an idea of how the quiz works below follows an example:
Clue 1:
If you obtain this after a car accident it’s not very nice. If the accident is not your own fault you could obtain a ‘sour’ temper.
If after a few days no one guesses the game you give some more hints:
Clue 2: Did you manage to guess the game?
The answer is : Acid Whiplash (select the text to read the answer)
Explanation of the clues:
-Clue 1: If you have a car accident it is possible to obtain a whiplash. Sour refers to acid.
-Clue 2: A picture of acid and a picture of Indiana Jones with his whip referring to whiplash
Searching the database for “acid” only gives one title, so this one is fairly easy.
Clue one should be quite difficult, but within 3 clues persons should be able to guess the title.

Re: Adventure Challenge
Ok. Let’s play! Here is the first clue:
Clue 1:
This game looks like being part of a dream. It certainly takes place on a higher level. Who dares to make the first guess?

Re: Adventure Challenge
Infocom's overlooked gem, Pregnant Mammoths in the Sky!
Oh, wait.... Cloud 99 is probably a better guess

Re: Adventure Challenge
Nice you joined the challenge! However both of you are wrong. Some parts are close, but they are not the game I'm thinking about.
@Jacob, your cheating as usual . The rules state only one guess at a time and the game has to be in the database. I think Infocom mist a huge opportunity in not publishing the "pregnants mammoths in the sky" .

Re: Adventure Challenge
So are we allowed another guess now or do we wait for the next hint?

Of course I'm cheating! Site owners gotta have a few perks
And I'd say fire away on the guesses!

Re: Adventure Challenge
Aaaand my best guess would be... Level 9's Fantasy - which sounds dreamlike *and* on a higher level
Just tell me that I've won - I can find the prize myself afterwards

Re: Adventure Challenge
Yes , go ahead. The idea is you don't guess more than one game in one post (like some other person who should be ashamed recently did ) , because it would be very easy to post 6865 names in one post (the whole database) meaning you would always guess the right game. I think to prevent this we could agree to wait until you get a response to your last guess, but we are playing this together and we are just starting so we still can define better rules. Please give your opinion about it.Mr Creosote wrote:So are we allowed another guess now or do we wait for the next hint?
I wanted to give the second clue the end of this week, but to make it a bit easier at the beginning I'm giving it now:
Clue 2: @Jacob:
Far to vague I've absolutely no idea what game your are talking aboutGunness wrote:Aaaand my best guess would be... Level 9's Fantasy - which sounds dreamlike *and* on a higher level

Oh, it's not vague at all! Fantasy was Level 9's first gameAlex wrote:Far to vague I've absolutely no idea what game your are talking aboutGunness wrote:Aaaand my best guess would be... Level 9's Fantasy - which sounds dreamlike *and* on a higher level
No matter, I'm fairly sure that I know the right answer now, but I don't think I'm allowed to guess until someone else has guessed, right?
Re: Adventure Challenge
Oops sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were hinting at some other game , but alas you are wrong again (although you are very close)Gunness wrote:Oh, it's not vague at all! Fantasy was Level 9's first game

A short explanation of the first clue (I guess everybody understands the second one):
The picture is not an mammoth, but an image of a behemoth (remember the behemoth at the beginning of the game who helped you to get across the ravine.).
The first picture should not be too easy (And I thought the pictures of the 1863 edition of the infernal dictionary, a book on demonology, would be basic knowledge to any experienced adventurer ), but because this hint only helps people who played the game I also added two more hints to this clue:
-It looks like being part of a dream: The game is a part of the Silicon dreams trilogy.
-It takes place on a higher level: The game was made by level 9 and apart from that it refers also to paradise.
Ok, Jacob now it's your turn.
Don't worry we are only startingMr Creosote wrote:Damn, too late!
