Is it perhaps a bug?"

Re: Possible solution problem - Unborn One, The
Interesting... Looking quickly at the code there's no real reason why the solution shouldn't work but it certainly doesn't in the version I just tried.
I wonder... I need to check the flags that Clive used in the game. It's possible he may have used a reserved system flag that was technically free early on but later implemented by Gilsoft as a process table matching toggle... That would explain the issues... If a game is generated by an old database using that flag in one of the later versions of the PAW then you wouldn't notice the issues without doing a full runthrough.
I'll extract the code for this one and do a quick check.

In the end it was a more straightforward issue...
The command needed to TALK to the shroud is...
SAY TO SHROUD "HELP"
That will give the medallion and will hopefully allow the "lost soul" to progress.
[The solution may well work as is for another version of the game. It was quite usual for games to get tweaked by authors multiple times... the solution could also easily be for one of the other versions of the game which might not have had the multi-parse/conversation system of the Spectrum's PAW.]
