Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
RZX Adventurer feedback:
"Solution fails here:
..TELL WOMEN ABOUT MARTIN, PHONE
You cannot phone because you have no money. "

Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
Will check this one... but I wonder if it's simply a case of the fact that the "lost soul" hasn't started the game by doing EXAMINE SEATS, FEEL GAP to find the wallet/purse; as mentioned in the introductory paragraph in the solution.

Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
I watched the RZX they sent me.. It appears that you're correct - there is no feeling of gaps that I could see.
Thanks!
Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
Thanks. I'll try that. I did read the introductory paragraph but it doesn't suggest that you have to look at the seats at the start of the game -- it suggests that this will happen later. Would be good to rephrase the solution to clarify that point.
Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
The solution seems clear to me.
Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
It really isn't clear. It says:
"Playing as a man once you examine the seats and feel the gap you'll find a wallet, doing the same as a woman will result in the discovery of a purse."
This is telling us about some generic property of being a man or woman. It doesn't at all say "BY THE WAY you must do this before you do anything else in the solution".
It's like a cooking recipe that says: "Frying an onion will add delicious brown searing to the edges." OK! Thanks for the tip...?
But if the first step of the actual recipe is "put the onion into a bowl" then I am going to put an entire unsliced, uncooked onion into the bowl. Because I haven't been given any prior instruction. Just a random tip about what you can do with onions if you want to.
Would be curious to hear opinions of anyone else who may be peeking at this thread.

Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
It's not explicit that it is an instruction to be carried out there and then, so I can see why it can lead to confusion, therefore I've changed the solution.
The paragraph that read:
now reads:At the start select your sex, though it doesn't seem to matter which
way you choose. Playing as a man once you examine the seats and feel
the gap you'll find a wallet, doing the same as a woman will result
in the discovery of a purse.
At the start select your sex, though it doesn't seem to matter which
way you choose. Examine the seats and feel the gap (playing as a man
you'll find a wallet, as a woman you'll discover a purse).
I hope that Geoff does not mind.
Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
Okay. I tried it again. Now I get as far as the barman telling about the alien abduction of the "uncivil servants", but the next instruction to SEARCH SEATS does not work -- nothing is found. I also tried it in the adjacent room, and with CHAIRS instead of SEATS -- no luck.

Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
I went east from the barman and searched the seats and the keys were found there.
Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
Okay! Solution is missing an E (east) move:
ask barman about servants, search seats
...should be...
ask barman about servants, e, search seats
I had tried going west to the lounge which wasn't cutting it. Thanks again.

Re: Possible solution problem - Murder Mystery Weekend
Unfortunately I reached the point that says: "Now head all the way back to the place where your ticket was blown away and look through the telescope".
My ticket was blown away...? What? Where? No memory of that.
OK. I think I'm done with this one. But thanks for the help.
Another reminder that hints are hints (to help a player who doesn't want a guide to the whole game) but solutions should indeed be comprehensive solutions.
