Possible solution problem - Civil Service II

#1 Post by hackersanon » Thu Aug 20, 2020 12:41 am

[....]
there is a crossword puzzle where you have to move around the grid dropping a letter in each square. The solution says:

..
read list (the answers to the clues are: bet, mow, has, phlegm, quinsy,
pyx, jack and visard) - drop the letters in the right places.
..

Experimenting with this, I have found that "has" is wrong: the correct answer to that clue ("Denotes ownership") is "of".

Here is a diagram of the solved crossword puzzle, which should make it clearer: (use a fixed-width font!) [1] -- feel free to add this to the solution if you like.

Code: Select all

        B
  V PHLEGM
QUINSY T OF
  Z X W
 JACK
  R
  D
[1] Or enclose it in code tags - Alastair

(solver) Oops, I wrote VISARD but it should be VIZARD with a Z. The puzzle uses each letter of the alphabet once.
